    Leaking sacrificial anode

I like that idea and yes I have read posts on here about the need for one. I have other pool owner friends that don't even have one. Our pool is about 12 years old and there were issues with the "marine grade" SS ladder rusting around the water line. The pool company replaced the ladder a couple...

    Leaking sacrificial anode

yeah, so I got the black cap off, it is threaded. It did have plumbers tape on the thread and an o-ring that was severely cracked. So that was the culprit. Now the dilemma. The anode cracked in half and half the anode remains stuck in the tube. I have to leave the pump off until I can figure...

    Leaking sacrificial anode

Hello everyone, I appear to have sprung a leak on what I think is my slave anode. It is leaking right below the black cap on top. How do I go about repairing this myself??

    Pool overflow

Yes backwashing will put a lot of water out. See if you can get a few pics of the gravel pit when they dig it up. Thanks

    Pool overflow

yes, no erosion, no dead grass. I think I get flow coming out of overflow more often than total water from backwash.

    Pool overflow

yikes! I would freak out if I saw all that dirty water coming back into the pool, especially since we are coming into pollen season. Definitely get the overflow off that backwash line, but if possible have both going to the gravel pit. At the very least keep the backwash on the gravel pit as the...

    Pool overflow

Hi everyone I wanted to get peoples opinion on how deal wit this problem. We have a overflow port on the side of our vinyl pool. We have centipede grass and I’m not really sure if it is the salt content in the water or just the amount of water the centipede is seeing. Centipede does not require...

    Zinc anode replacement

Well I believe it was installed post construction because the “316 stainless steel/ marine grade” ladder rungs and hardware kept rusting near the waterline.

    Zinc anode replacement

Hey guys I wanted to get some input on replacing my sacrificial zinc anode. Our pool is about seven years old and I have never replaced the zinc. Considering I can’t even make out how much zinc is left, I probably should replace this season. First question is what is the wire going to from the...

    Pump out of order

Hey thanks for the responses guys. Looks like it was the capacitor. I replaced after being out of commission for 4 days and it fired right up! At $12 it might be worth while having a spare on hand especially since as my luck would have it, it was a odd rated HVAC capacitor.

    Structures over pool equipment

Hello all, not sure where else to post such a question, but what is everyone’s take on covering pool equipment (sand filter, pumps etc.) from the elements? Jokingly, we have two seasons here in NC, winter with ice and brutal steamy summers. At 6 years old our equipment is showing some effects as...

    Pump out of order

I can pick up come liquid chlorine from walmart on the way home. So per pool math, that looks like about 1.5 gallons/ day?? We keep our pool open all year round, We use chlorine "sticks" in the skimmer during cold months. Could I use those or is it better to use liquid as it is easier to no how...

    Pump out of order

So my pump stopped working sunday afternoon. Whenever I turn it on, it is making a buzzing sound for about 5-6 seconds, clicks and then is silent. It does NOT trip the breaker. I am fairly certain it is the capacitor. I removed the capacitor and there is a slight bulge on the capacitor and I had...

    What is this fitting for?

Yes I heard back from the PB and they said during construction there was ground water. They installed this line to pump it out. Kind of like a French drain. Hmmm, in RARE cases as during a hurricane I wonder if I can use this to remove ground water before floating occurs. PB said they used a...

    What is this fitting for?

Yes the capped fitting on the far left. I don't think its for vacuum as I have a booster pump and associated piping for side wall cleaner

    What is this fitting for?

This was installed but PB. I have no idea what it does or what it's for but I am hoping it is something to do with ground water removal? I recently posted a thread about my pool vinyl liner floating. PB came out and pumped ground water out from behind liner. We had a few wrinkles left on the...

    Florence-1 Vinyl Liner- 0 (floating)

Hey guys I know there have been many threads regarding floating liners, but wanted to renew and get some opinions. So Hurricane Florence caused our liner to float. This was not out first hurricane but Florence was very different from our last major hurricane, Matthew. We have had a very wet...

    Preparation for hurricane/tropical storm

Looks like we have a small problem knocking on our door, Hurricane Flo. To add to this thread, would it be worthwhile to bump up the chlorine and/or backwash?
