Help remediating out of balance water chemistry

The copper came from an algaecide he used and he kept a copper pipe in the pump basket. He does not have a pool heater. He has a new problem now. He got the Ph up to 6.8 from 0. Now he says the liner is brown from metal deposits. He has had this problem in the past when he raises the ph and...

Help remediating out of balance water chemistry

Since the TA sample showed red immediately after adding 2 drops of R-0007 and before adding the indicator R-0008 which is supposed to turn it green, shouldn't I assume the TA is high? It's not supposed to turn red until the R-0008 indicator is added. Also, the volume is 16,500.

Help remediating out of balance water chemistry

I have a very close friend who has been having a lot of trouble for a while with his pool (especially algae), so I had him bring me a water sample. These are the results by using a Taylor K2006 test kit and a copper test kit. The pool is an inground 16x32 vinyl liner with a Hayward EC65A...

Pentair equivalent for Hayward multiport valve

I currently have a Hayward progrid DE4820 filter with a Hayward SP710XR50 multiport valve and a Pentair whisper flow 1.5hp pump. The outlet fitting on the the multiport has developed a leak along the seam on the outlet port. I want to replace it with a higher flow rate valve, preferably a...

Is anyone familiar with sodium tetraborate pentahydrate as an algae preventative?

Interesting about that silky soft feel. I achieved that same result since I began maintaining my calcium level around 300. I also stopped getting the white slime in my pool ladder holes every fall when I pulled them out to close the pool.

    dry acid (ph minus)

I never "lob" any chemicals in my pool, even when they say to. I have an extra skimmer basket which I lined with some screen which is finer than the basket itself. I put my multiport valve in recirculate so the water doesn't go through the filter, my skimmer/bottom drain valve in the neutral...

    Invisible Slime On Walls

Its been this way for years. I don't want to have to maintain the pool at shock levels. I don't have any problems with algae at all. At least, not visibly. My water is pristine. People often comment on how clean it is.

    Invisible Slime On Walls

My vinyl liner always seems to have an invisible slightly slippery coating on it. You can't see it, only feel it. If I raise the FC to shock levels, it goes away. As soon as I return to normal FC levels, it returns. I brush it away and it's back the next day. My chemistry is good FC 4 CC 0...

    CYA Test Differences

Ok, so I ordered the R-7065. Just to make sure, I use it straight and not mixed with pool water. I would use it as is to test the kit's accuracy, correct?

    CYA Test Differences

OK, so I've rerun the CYA tests as follows. Pool store test tube with their reagent Pool store test tube with my reagent Taylor kit with their reagent Taylor kit with my reagent. All done with same lighting in the same location. Still getting the same readings. Taylor 80 ppm. Pool store test...

    CYA Test Differences

Thanks everyone for the responses and welcome. It's great to have such a helpful and knowledgeable group to bounce problems off of. A note about the tests. Except for the CYA level, my tests match the pool store readings almost exactly. I do trust my own testing, just can't figure the CYA...

    CYA Test Differences

This is kind of a weird thing. When I test my CYA with my Taylor K-2006 kit I get a high reading of 80. When I bring a sample to the local pool store they get a reading of 25. In the Taylor kit, I add solution until the dot on the bottom of the tube disappears. In the pool store test it has...
