*Experience* POOL BARON COLOR LED NICHELESS WALL POOL LIGHT

Sorry for the late reply. I used the bracket that came with the new light. It only had two bolt holes instead of four in the aqualumin 3 bracket. This past weekend I took off the new bracket and drilled two more holes (I still had the old bracket to use as a template). I had concern that I...

*Experience* POOL BARON COLOR LED NICHELESS WALL POOL LIGHT

I installed one of these in our pool last year to replace an Aqualumin III which replaced an Aqualumin II. Having to add the external transformer was the only downer to the project. Otherwise the the new light is great.

    Filter Style Sanity Check

We currently have a sand filter. Actually that's all we've ever had on the pools we owned. So last year I upgraded my pump to a variable speed. The sand filter seemed to be fine. But I'm thinking about changing to a cartridge filter. Then I think about a DE filter. Then I think I'll post...

    Aqualumin 3 LED upgrade

We have a 250 watt, 110 volt Aqualumin 3 light in our pool. It is a nicheless style light. Is anyone aware of an LED upgrade for the Aqualumin 3? Or is there a nicheless style LED light available? My searches have been unsuccessful. Thanks.

Jandy Gold Standard 1.5" Ball Valve Union O-rings

Any idea on where to get replacement o-rings for Jandy Gold Standard 1.5" union ball valves? I located a Jandy parts book online that showed replacement valve handles as the only spare parts.

Does stabilizer change alkalinity as well as PH?

Sorry for the late reply...not getting notifications...I have to check my settings. Chem geek, I think what saves him is that he has an automatic pool cover that is closed a good portion of the day. Since my original post, CYA is up to 50. Now he is working on getting Alkalinity down to 70...

    SWG Chorine Production

Converted to salt 2 or 3 years ago and glad I did. And like most things, I keep trying to tweak. My Dad used to tell me to leave well enough alone... Anyway my RJ-30 says it can produce 1.5 lbs of chlorine per day. I use Pool Math to make any chemical additions to the water. How do I...

Does stabilizer change alkalinity as well as PH?

I'm helping a friend convert to our methods so he can start enjoying his pool. Currently he has no CYA and alkalinity is 130. It is a salt pool. We need to add stabilizer. I have lowered my alkalinity using muratic acid and aeration. Using pool math, I know stabilizer affects PH...but since...

    New motor but lower pressure

Problem is solved and turned out to be a case of pilot error. The motor is dual voltage rated for 230 or 115 volt operation. It is shipped to run on 230. I read but misunderstood the instructions on how to set the motor up for 115 volt operation. The reason the pressure read low was due to...

    New motor but lower pressure

New seal installed and checked impeller. I was happily surprised by the lack of hair in the impeller. (Wife and two daughters with long black hair.)

    New motor but lower pressure

Thanks for the reply Jason. There are no bubbles in the strainer. I also confirmed that the main drain and skimmer suction valves are open 100%. I'll borrow a clamp on amp meter from work and confirm the motor is pulling nameplate amps.

    New motor but lower pressure

I had to replace my pump motor this past weekend. The old motor was 1 HP with a 1.4 safety factor. The new motor, although from a different manufacturer, has the same specs, 1 HP with a 1.4 safety factor. My concern is that the old motor would show 15 PSI on the filter pressure gauge. The...

    Dolphin Diagnostic Needs Repair

After more than 10 years of use, my Dolphin Diagnostic is in need of service. I contacted Maytronics and they emailed me information on where to ship it for repair. Just curious if anyone else has used their repair service. Thanks.

    Is polyquat really necessary?

Been a BBB disciple for several seasons with great success. In the past I always opened with a quart of polyquat, dosed it every week with more polyquat, and closed with a quart of polyquat. When someone asked me the other day is I used algaecide at closing I couldn't recall adding any last...

    Testing Salt Level

I have purchased the CircuPool RJ-30 SWG. Looking around the forum, I can't locate the preferred method for testing the salt level. I use the Taylor 2006 kit. Their site has a reagent test but the price is a bit salty. What do you recommend?

    Alkalinity creeping up

In don't know why I didn't think about that, but there in lies the answer. My fill water is: PH=7.6 Alk=260 CH=350 Normally I pump rain water into the pool...our water here is quite hard. But since we haven't seen much rain lately I have been using the tap water. Thanks for pointing me in...

    Alkalinity creeping up

Here are my current levels: FC=4 CC=0 PH=7.7 Alk=110 CH=280 CYA=40 Borate=50 Everything looks great. But I adjust alkalinity to 90 and in 7 to 10 days it creeps up to 110. This has been a regular cycle this year. What can cause that fluctuation?

    Black smoke coming from heater

I opened our pool today...it was perfectly clear! I attribute that to this forum and the BBB Method. Even the heater started right up. The only thing new this year was that when I fired up the heater (Hayward H200), I noticed black smoke coming out of the vents. I shut of the heater, waited...

water level at closing with an automatic cover

We have closed our pool the last two years on our own. The first year went well and we opened without a problem. Last year we did everything the same but had a very cold winter. When we opened I noticed that the skimmer had developed a crack. I have not been lowering the water level because...

    Getting Balance

I added borates yesterday after everybody was done swimming for the day. 17 boxes of 20 Mule Team Borax and about 5 gallons of Muratic acid. After about 5 or 6 hours, I thought the water looked even better than it did before I started. Since it was hot in Indianapolis (record setting high...

    Getting Balance

I started with this site last year and indeed had a trouble free pool. When I opened in early April, the water was clear and still holding FC. Due to my own lack of attention, I opened the auto cover Saturday to find a cloudy mess. I tested for ammonia and had nearly 8 ppm. In the past when...

    Total Dissolved Solids

A follow up question. On the Taylor Technologies website, they have a pool calculator / analysis feature (http://www.poolspa.com/taylor/). Under the section "Enter Test Results", the acceptable ranges they show for the various categories are quite different from the ranges shown on TFP. I...

    Total Dissolved Solids

I'm converting from the pool store / BioGuard 1,2,3 program to the BBB program. I purchased the Taylor K-2006 test kit frequently recommended by Chem Geek. My current numbers are: FC 3.8 CC .2 PH 7.3 TA 190 CH 350 CYA 80 Two questions... First, I don't like my TA, CH & CYA numbers. Using the...
