    Pentair IC40 No Power

Same issue here, but mine is hooked up to an easy touch. Looked over at my equipment this morning and the intellichlor is lifeless. Intellichlor light on easy touch panel is green. Connection is fine. It's just dead. I reset the breaker and nothing. Any suggestions?

    Algae bloom

I am over near Betton Hills off of South Ride. Use Leslie's for chlorine since it is around the corner.

    Algae bloom

Updated numbers: FC 22.5, CC at 0, CYA at 40, TA at 70, ph at 7.3. Realized I still had my SWG on at 40%. I shut it off to help lower the FC.

    Algae bloom

Its weird. I have a problem getting rid of this service all together. Its not that I don't trust myself to manage the chemistry; rather, it is the idea of always having to clean the pool and pay attention to it religiously. I have a large pool with lots of trees so it gets a lot of stuff in...

    Algae bloom

Arrgggg. He added Dichlor even though I instructed him not add anything and not to raise the cya. Five pounds of it. How much will that raise my cya?

    Algae bloom

I will have to run a full panel of test later. Late yesterday ph was a nice 7.5. CC was .5. This morning FC was still through the roof at 25. Cya was at 20 yesterday but I added a small amount of cya to try to raise to 30. Water already looked better this morning.

I don't know. I will ask. - - - Updated - - - Hah. I work with another TFP member and he is smacking his head over me not moving on from this guy.

Using TFT-100. I think I need to part ways with this guy. He is kind of a jerk about the fact that I assert my own ideas.

    Algae bloom

Came home on Tuesday to find a green algae bloom in progress. 36000 gallon pool with a swg in Tallahassee Florida. I have to come clean and admit that I pay someone to maintain my pool which seems bad since I have an algae bloom. I am pretty sure they use test strips so their numbers tend to...

    My Blue Diamond

Want to echo the ultimate conclusion here. I dropped my BD in for the first time today and it did an amazing job of cleaning. I was really impressed at how fast it was and how it handled walls.

    Main Drain help

Interesting. I am likely going to refinish this coming winter and the guy I will probably use suggested epoxy and said he would replace the whole thing.

Small amount of Algae and slightly cloudy - Plan of Attack

Re: Small amount of Algae and slightly cloudy - Plan of Atta Thanks. I am going to start raising my CYA to 70 (I have a swg). Once there I will maintain a FC level around 5 ppm. Does that make sense?

Small amount of Algae and slightly cloudy - Plan of Attack

Re: Small amount of Algae and slightly cloudy - Plan of Atta After spending a lot more time reading in here, I believe that I have black algae. The good news is that I have been brushing all the spots I can find with a wire brush. Man, this stuff is hard to get off. I dont have much of it...

Small amount of Algae and slightly cloudy - Plan of Attack

Re: Small amount of Algae and slightly cloudy - Plan of Atta Update: second night during shocking and I saw a 2ppm loss of FC. Definitely better but not there yet.

Small amount of Algae and slightly cloudy - Plan of Attack

Re: Small amount of Algae and slightly cloudy - Plan of Atta Is there any reason at all for chlorine levels to drop during nightime other than being consumed by algae? I ask becuase the proverbial pool guy seemed to think there was. He acted like I should expect it to fall no matter what. I...

Small amount of Algae and slightly cloudy - Plan of Attack

Re: Small amount of Algae and slightly cloudy - Plan of Atta Update. Tested twice today and FC was at 10 both times. Cya was consistently between 30 and 40. Finally added liquid chlorine to raise FC to 16 to start shock process. Interestingly, I spoke with pool guy today who was really...

    Main Drain help

I have a problem for which I am hoping there is a solution. My main drain cover is off and my "pool guy" says that the collar or flange that you screw the cover into is broken and that the cover cannot be screwed down. He says there is no way to repair this except when the pool is refinished...

Small amount of Algae and slightly cloudy - Plan of Attack

Re: Small amount of Algae and slightly cloudy - Plan of Atta Thanks Duraleigh. How long are your test kits good for? I think the last one I purchased from you may be close to a year old. I have kept it in my air conditioned home. I want to make sure the test materials I am using are still...

Small amount of Algae and slightly cloudy - Plan of Attack

Hey everyone, I am having some recent trouble with my pool and want to verify I have the right approach to resolving any issues. I am in North Florida and have a 36,000 gallon SWG pool. About ten days ago I happened to be home when the "pool guy" was there. I asked him what his recent...

calcium chloride and its impact on salt cell?

Hey everyone. I have a somewhat weird quiestion. I am suspicous that the person who maintains my pool dumped a bag of "tetra flake" into my pool. I think that perhaps he just mistook it for some form of acceptable pool salt. (http://www.tetrachemicals.com/Products/ ... _Flake.aqf). As it...

Here are my chemistry numbers; Can I add salt now?

Thought I would drop in and update everyone. The pool is great and I love the SWG. Here are my current numbers: FC 4 PH 7.8 TA 130 CH 320 CYA 90 Salt 3300 There was one poster who wanted an update on my salt readings versus the IC40's readings. The IC40 seems to consistently be at least...

Here are my chemistry numbers; Can I add salt now?

I took my water to pinch a penny today and there salt test came back as 3400. My salt cell reading has never gotten above 3200 and in fact this afternoon, the low salt light came on. The pinch a penny test did say my PH was high (around 8.0). Could that lead to the salt cell having a false...

Here are my chemistry numbers; Can I add salt now?

Okay, here is an update after one week. The guy who installed all of the equipment recomended having the pump run for six hours a day at 2300 rpm and then 17.5 hours of the day at 11 RPM. He recomended having it all switch off for .5 of an hour. He set the intellichlor at 40%. These are my...

Here are my chemistry numbers; Can I add salt now?

Good morning everyone. I added my salt late Friday afternoon and turned on the Intellichlor yesterday. The salt cell reads the salt level at 3300 while my test strip this morning shows 3730. I checked the salt cell reading last night as well and it was showing 3300 then as well. Here are my...

Here are my chemistry numbers; Can I add salt now?

Thanks to both of you. It has been raining a long with the free chlorine drop. Obviously, I want the free chlorine to come down so I was happy to see the drop. Jason, the salt level is currently at about 400 (I added two bags yesterday to see what it was like). Here is a silly question. My...

Here are my chemistry numbers; Can I add salt now?

Hey everyone, Just to explain the background issues, I recently had all of my pool equipment destroyed by a falling tree. It took me a while to replace the pump and filter due to some other building issues that were going on. My pool guy lent me a pump with a suction pipe that went to the...

Why pick an Intelliflo VS versus the VF?

Hey everyone, first time posting so bear with me. I have been a pool owner for five years but to be frank, until now I had turned the entire thing over to a professional and ignored the whole subject. Well, the one thing I do know is that my energey cost were significant. I was running a one...
