CC and FC bouncing back and forth

Tested just now, and the fc is at 24.5, 1ppm loss overnight, but cc is back up over 0.5ppm.

CC and FC bouncing back and forth

I added two more containers of bleach at 11:10, which should, theoretically, bring my fc to 16.5ppm. I tested at 12 and got 25.5ppm of fc. Under 0.5ppm cc. Starting to wonder if it's my powder. 8/17 is the expiration date. Or could it be my water circulation? I've got the motor running at 75%...

CC and FC bouncing back and forth

I rinse with the water I just harvested from the pool before each test.

CC and FC bouncing back and forth

Thanks for the recommendation. The 4.5 was just a way for me to guess how much bleach to add. When I get home and add bleach, I always check about an hour later before going to bed, to make sure I'm at shock level. When I left for work this morning, fc was at 16ppm (lost 1.5ppm overnight)...

CC and FC bouncing back and forth

Thanks for the suggestions. I don't really think the FC is dropping that quickly before I leave in the morning, though. Pool doesn't get sunlight until 9am, and I'm gone by then. I do bring it back up to shock level when I get home, and I test to make sure it's still there before going to...

CC and FC bouncing back and forth

I've been SLAMing my pool for 5 weeks (FC dropped last weekend because I was out of town, but was still not below nominal when I returned...aside from that has been at shock level at least 2x/day (I work 9-5 M-F)). Water is crystal clear, but CC keeps jumping back and forth between 0.5 and...

    Thank you

I inherited a pool without instruction from the prior owner, and I learn so much every year about this pool that I'm continually amazed. Thanks so much for all the shared knowledge! Added a few (too many) bottles of bleach to the pool before removing the mesh safety cover. Still had a green mess...

    Battling cloudy water all summer

Hope it's not a filter issue, but I'll definitely run that test. Thanks!

    Battling cloudy water all summer

When I was SLAMing, I kept the FC level at around 16 (CYA approximately 30). I started with CC of 1, and it dropped below 0.5, with loss of FC less than 1 in the OCLT within 3 days or so. Kept it like that for a week, but my water never did clear up. I'm starting to suspect my filter...which...

    Battling cloudy water all summer

Yeah, my escutcheons are broken, so I only put the ladder in there earlier this week. Those things are expensive, considering they're mainly decoration! Skimmer looks fine, as well, and can't see anything on the light. I've scrubbed both.

    Battling cloudy water all summer

I had a couple green algae outbreaks early in the summer, and I followed the SLAM method to remove the algae. Yet, I've been battling a cloudy pool on and off for the past month or so. My CC was less than 0.5ppm when I checked before I shocked the pool 2 days ago to 18ppm FC (pulling out all...

Liquidator vs. Stenner pump vs. adding bleach manually to maintain FC

I'm a bit concerned about the solar cover. Bleach is more dense than water, though, correct? If so, then I guess I shouldn't be concerned about it harming the cover? Should I manually sweep the floor area of the pool, or will the return be sufficient in distributing the chemical? Sorry for...

Slide pipe broken off at concrete level - Seeking ideas on how to repair

Thanks for all the helpful responses! My solution: Went to a specialty plumbing store in town, where the guy took out a tape measure to measure the OD of a 1" female adapter plug to be '1.25"'. I knew the standard OD for 1" schedule 40 PVC was 1.315", but I was in a bind, so I...

Liquidator vs. Stenner pump vs. adding bleach manually to maintain FC

This summer, I've had to keep the solar cover on the pool as much as possible, as the weather hasn't been conducive to increasing the pool temperature to my liking (85F). It's sitting at about 75F right now. I have a solar cover reel, but it can be a bit time consuming for one person to roll...

Slide pipe broken off at concrete level - Seeking ideas on how to repair

That RamBit looks interesting! I may have to invest in one. You should see the tear-up that's going to be involved when I replace the pump filter housing...

Slide pipe broken off at concrete level - Seeking ideas on how to repair

Luckily, I added the CYA before the return line pipe broke. It's at about 30, up from 0 last week. Thanks for the suggestion regarding the sun. - - - Updated - - - Unfortunately, I think you're correct. I was contemplating a dremel, if I can't find a 1.25" OD fitting.

Slide pipe broken off at concrete level - Seeking ideas on how to repair

Sorry about that. I forgot to attach them. - - - Updated - - - Good point! There's definitely some of the extension left in the part that was broken off above ground.

Slide pipe broken off at concrete level - Seeking ideas on how to repair

Didn't know that would be effective. Thanks for the suggestion! I have had a couple oopsies with cyanuric acid collecting on the pool bottom. Shouldn't have tried to add it before I could see bottom. Even after sweeping, and with the pump and vacuum circulating, that stuff is still hard to...

Slide pipe broken off at concrete level - Seeking ideas on how to repair

Thanks, I've been lurking for a while, learning about BBB! I had just opened the pool, and my pump motor burned up the day I took off the cover. There was some algae that had already started to take hold. How do you circulate the bleach if you don't have a pump? I was operating under the...

Slide pipe broken off at concrete level - Seeking ideas on how to repair

I have an IG 18000gal pool with 2 return lines in the pool and one return that I assume was built for a slide. That return was a capped pipe with a threaded cap, which extended 1' above the concrete, that I used to blow out the lines when I close the pool. I came home to some storm damage...
