    heliocol stole my flow

Is there an 800- number or a way to contact heliocol directly? All I can find is the fill out contact form, which is how I was connected with the installer. ETA: I've been in contact with a heliocol sales rep who assures that a series configuration is best for anything over 8 panels and the...

    heliocol stole my flow

Here are more photos - I thought this system was not supposed to breach the roof tiles? https://www.dropbox.com/sh/4f2qv52yc1ofibz/AAAdD1aH4jLnHZLd5fz-Nkxqa The installer has a call in to heliocol and will call back on Monday. I checked the system on the roof for hot spots, but it's cool and...

    heliocol stole my flow

I called the installer. They believe adjusting the actuator to portion the flow any would mean no water would go through the solar system because the water would choose the path of least resistance. Also of noted concern: the section of pipe that is between the salt water generator and the pool...

    heliocol stole my flow

http://i58.tinypic.com/2h37iug.jpg I turned the valve 45* and it hasn't made a difference (20 min so far). The Hayward valve is mechanical so I can't turn it at all while the solar is set to on. Here's the roof. Hard to get these pics due to the pitch of the roof...

    heliocol stole my flow

Looking back at my notes, the pump could be as low as 2175rpm and the SWG would run. I guess I just like 2500rpm because it's a square number :D - - - Updated - - - I'm not familiar with the vacuum release valve. Off to google... Installer did not provide any advice. I didn't even know they...

    heliocol stole my flow

I think the solar panels are in a series? There are 10 panels grouped 4-1-4-1 to accommodate the pitch of the roof and attic vent pipes. There's a larger PVC pipe that connects across the top of all the panels, and one across the bottom. The PVC is 2" diameter all around. The pump is...

    heliocol stole my flow

Hello, I have a ~27000 gallon IG vinyl pool, sand filter with SWG, and variable speed pump. I used to set the pump at 2500rpm and that was enough flow to run the SWG - the pressure in the filter hovered around 2-3. If I had Kreepy Krawly in the pool, I'd bump the pump up to 2700rpm: SWG worked...

    when to test after rain?

I know y'all say rain doesn't affect pool chemistry, but my pool seems to disagree. We got 4-5" rain in the past hour, and I wasted approximately 1300 gallons to prevent the pool from overflowing. I'll need to waste more when the rain stops to get the water level below the opening of the...

    Bottom drain cover

wow. Thanks. The plastic casing that holds the threads for the screws is what cracked/broke down inside the main drain. Both sides (two screw locations) were cracked and one side broke completely off. The cover itself is fine. It's the housing down inside the pool is where the cracks are...

Thanks for the heads up! Tedious but not complicated. No pool service company needed. I think we can handle that.

    Bottom drain cover

So if I retrieve the cover with the leaf rake and determine screw fit, it's just a matter of finding someone able to dive down? My ears can't handle the water pressure, but maybe the college age kid across the street could help. We run the top skimmer / Kreepy Krawly about 96% of the time and...

    Bottom drain cover

So how difficult should this be to manage? I guess Kreepy Krawly knocked the cover off the bottom drain. Pardon graininess. Cell phone shot from third story

low FC again - rain or something else?

Thanks, both. FC maintained at 5 previous to now. All tests were within appropriate range since the pool was balanced back in March after opening routine. June 12 was the first low test so whatever is going on is new, and seems to be causing the low FC rather than due to "allowing" low FC...

low FC again - rain or something else?

All this testing and balancing makes me :brickwall: Questions: Dropping chlorine - effect from heavy rains or indicative of need to shock? High TA - acid and aerate? Test Results: June 12 after 2+ inches of rain FC - 1 pH - 7.1 TA - 70 CYA - 70 Added bleach. FC up to 5 (tested 5 hours after...

Low fc - bleach or wait on swg

I'm trying to balance things after torrential rains. Today's test results: Salt - 3800ppm FC - 1 TC - 1 pH - 7.1 TA - 70 CYA - 70 There's no borate in this town so I'm okay with a pH of 7.1 for the kids until the swg brings that up naturally. (Or is it worth a drive out of town to find borate...

best way to repair deck concrete?

Thanks! I'll get a few more shots tomorrow during the day. The pool frame and deck are 30-some odd years old. I think any settling is done.

best way to repair deck concrete?

The concrete where our pool steps railing is anchored has settled. Is there a simple way to repair the concrete without digging it all up? I'm under the impression that additional concrete will not adhere to the existing concrete and would chip over time...

    just venting

Thanks, y'all. There's not a BBB alternative to CYA is there? I imagine I'll need to add CYA, baking soda, and salt when the clouds dry up this afternoon.

    just venting

The other good news is (small town) I found the guys who have worked on the pool over the past few years. The liner is 3-4 years old. The pool was dug in the 80s and has a metal frame (starting to rust and the pitting caused the 4 holes). The skimmer and half the pipes were replaced 2 years...

    just venting

Upon opening the pool, I added 6 gallons of muriatic acid (in increments over time) with aerating to get my TA down to an acceptable range. What's the 50/50 spread that now my TA is low and I have to add baking soda? :?

    just venting

I'm so tired of buying chemicals and testing! New pool owner here - just bought the house that came with the pool. I opened the pool in late March and was frustrated with the cost of chemicals, but I realized that (hopefully) opening the pool is a once-a-year cost and everything else...

    determining leak vs evap rate

Yeah... but the past two weekends in a row it rained 4-5" and I had to waste water. So I've wasted 9-10" rainwater in the past two weeks. Wouldn't the rain/wasting also contribute to salt lost? I've read to expect an inch per week of evaporation. And 1/4" lost over 4 days seems appropriate...

    determining leak vs evap rate

I think we have a leak. Pool service came out two weeks ago and found some pinhole spots in the liner around the skimmer. Now we're supposed to be watching for leaks and report back before he closes out our bill. April 30 - May 3 (4 days): day time high of 77, 72x2, 64 and overnight low in mid...

    me vs them

New pool store opened up advertising their brand-new-state-of-the-art WaterLink DataMate 10 water analyzer "accurate to 1/100th of a part per million". I like numbers, so I figured why not have them test my water just to see if I'm interpreting my tests correctly. I mean pink or more pink or an...
