Texas freeze damage - Sand filter replacement help needed

Most likely like for like. I found a used one (sand) locally for what I think is a good price. So that would probably be easiest. But I’ve never replaced a filter (and only ever had sand), so I’m not sure what specific information I’d need in order to know if the used one is what I need...

Anyone able to help with exactly what info I need to know in order to replace my sand filter with a comparable one?

Texas freeze damage - Sand filter replacement help needed

I live in North Texas and due to the freeze last week we went without power for several days. The obvious damage that I’ve found so far is that a PVC pipe froze and blew off. But more importantly, the sand filter cracked. I’ve seen some used ones for sale locally, so if I decided to go that...

Bad timer motor or user error?

Just as a follow up--we had someone come out to look at it and it turned out to be a bad breaker. We've had some storms recently and it could've been a surge, but it just wasn't getting the full power load to the pump. So as soon as that breaker was replaced the pump started purring again...

Bad timer motor or user error?

Sorry for the delay in responding. The weekend got busy and time got away from me. Anyway, it wasn't a problem with the breaker. And doesn't seem to be a problem with the timer box, either. We checked all the wires with the volt meter, and they all had power where they should have, etc. So...

Bad timer motor or user error?

They go to the freeze guard. It's a separate box over on the right hand side.

Bad timer motor or user error?

No, they aren't. They were before I switched it out, though.

Bad timer motor or user error?

John--it is the WG1573-5. Is that good or bad? Jim--I'll post a pic of the wiring set up from before I messed with it and also after. I've compared several times and can't seem to find a difference, but maybe I'm just missing something. This is the before....

Bad timer motor or user error?

We've been having issues with our pump timer not working. We finally narrowed it down and believe it was the timer motor. So I ordered the replacement timer motor and switched it out yesterday. But after turning the power back on at the breaker, the pump won't turn on now. I took pictures...

Fix polaris 360 or replace it?

Our Polaris 360 has not been working so we took it to the local pool store to get it fixed. I knew that there was a hole in one of the hoses and a few of the connectors were leaking, so I figured we'd just have to replace the whole hose. They said they could do a water test to figure out...

How do I shut off power to the pump timer?

Hi everyone- I've been having issues with my pump timer not working. The cogs in the "visual motor check" window are moving. I've already tried changing the trippers and that didn't help. So I bought a new timer motor. I've read instructions on how to change it and the very first thing is to...

    Faulty gauge or something worse?

Okay, that sounds like a plausible situation. We have had some serious winds recently and it's possible that some debris managed to make its way in and clog it up. I will try to check the impeller tomorrow and see what I can find out.

    Faulty gauge or something worse?

Hey everyone. I need some help with a gauge issue. My gauge usually reads right around 20. I noticed yesterday that it was reading close to 0. I turned the pump off. The water level looked to be fine, but I went ahead and added some to the pool just to be on the safe side. Then I opened the...

    Freeze Guard

My pool does not currently have a freeze guard, so I'm wondering how expensive it is to add one and if that is something that I can do myself or if we need to hire someone to do it. I'm in Texas, so it seldom gets cold enough to worry about, but when it does, I would appreciate the convenience...

Is it okay to leave CH high and deal with it in the spring?

Re: Is it okay to leave CH high and deal with it in the spri Drained and refilled the pool this weekend and here are the current numbers: FC=1 CC= 1/2 TA=110 CH=220 pH=7.8 CYA=40* As y'all know, the CYA is a bit tricky to master. So I think it was about 40. But obviously that could be a...

Is it okay to leave CH high and deal with it in the spring?

Re: Is it okay to leave CH high and deal with it in the spri So I'm in the process of draining it right now. I figure I'll err on the conservative side and drain more than I may have to since I can raise levels with chemicals, if needed, but getting them back down would mean draining again...

Is it okay to leave CH high and deal with it in the spring?

Re: Is it okay to leave CH high and deal with it in the spri To be honest, the only reason driving the desire to wait until spring is the intimidation factor of draining it. I've only been taking care of the pool for about 1-2 weeks. And while I've been reading as much as I can on this website...

Is it okay to leave CH high and deal with it in the spring?

Re: Is it okay to leave CH high and deal with it in the spri Ok, I tested the CH of my fill water and it was 100-110 (tested twice). So I retested the pool CH to see if maybe I made a mistake tv first time. Unfortunately I didn't, as this time it read 790. So would it be best to go ahead and...

Is it okay to leave CH high and deal with it in the spring?

Re: Is it okay to leave CH high and deal with it in the spri Gotcha. Thanks for the speedy reply! Yes, I would be using a hose and I have not yet tested the CH of that water. I will do that when I get home this afternoon. Do I just need to test the CH of the fill water or run all the normal...

Is it okay to leave CH high and deal with it in the spring?

Re: Is it okay to leave CH high and deal with it in the spri This is so embarrassing, but I assume by "fill water" you mean the water that comes out of the garden hose that I would be using to refill the pool. Is that correct?

Is it okay to leave CH high and deal with it in the spring?

Hi y'all! We recently purchased a house (in the Fort Worth, Texas area) that has a pool that has been serviced by a pool company. As a "courtesy", they continued to service it through the end of September. Since then I've been trying to educate myself on the BBB method so I can get up to...
