    Pool Chemistry

I'm assuming that my cya will rise again over time even after the water refill due to the fact that I am using chlorine with stabilizer. Is there an alternative to using chlorine with stabilizer?

I bought the TF-50 last year and will try the test with it tonight. I didn't think things would vary that much between testing but from your statement I guess it does. I will post updates tonight. Thanks

    Chemical help

I see, I should have just keep diluting until I got an accurate reading. The pool water is about 6 years old so maybe it's time. I was planning to closes it this week. Can I do my normal closing (algaecide, stain/scale reducer, shock) and the put cover on until spring? Shouldn't need much...

    Chemical help

My kit makes enough each time for me to get about 3 tests. I poured in until I couldn't see black dot. Poured out and tried again until I ran out. If you want me to do again I can dilute twice to get a more accurate result.

    Chemical help

Sorry...got things confused. Newbie......My Adjusted TA was 64 and the appears the range should be 125-150 so that was the reason for the baking soda but I wanted to adjust slowly and not drop in 20 lbs like the report from the pool store had recommended. I added about 1 lb of Lo N Slo...

    Chemical help

Btw - the ph was a bit low hence the reason I added the baking soda. From what I understand, having the ph right makes the other test more accurate. Please advise....

    Chemical help

Ok....so I added two gallons of bleach and about 7 lbs. of baking soda. Something I thought was very interesting was the fact that the back of the baking soda bag had instructions (amounts/ppm per gallons of water) for the pool. Never thought......already learning from this site. Thanks for all...
