New SWG Install - Low FC

Things are humming along now. I went on vacation for a week and came back to a FC of 12.5. I've dialed my SWG percentage down a bit and today I was down to FC of 9. Now I'm going to tackle the PH and TA next. I started airirate the water today and added enough MA to being the PH down. Water...

New SWG Install - Low FC

Well, you guys were dead on. I SLAM'd for 4 days. Was very diligent in keeping FC above 20ppm. Passed OCLT and my SWG has been keeping up running roughly 10hrs at 80%. I'm still running on the max range of FC at 10-11ppm just to make sure it was keeping up first. I turned the SWG down to...

New SWG Install - Low FC

Update. Been SLAMming all day. Kept FC above 20ppm for most of the day. Between 7:00AM and 12:00PM I lost about 15FC. Between 12:00PM and 5:00PM I lost about 10ppm. I got in the pool and scrubbed every inch of the liner and skimmer I could this afternoon. Found a few hideaway spots of...

New SWG Install - Low FC

So here was the approach I ended up taking. I went SLAM. I got my FC up to 28ppm at around 2:00PM yesterday. It dropped to about 21ppm by 6, added more LC and went to bed at 28.5ppm at 9:00PM. However, I also wanted to check my output. So I ran the cell at 100% from 9:00PM until 6:00AM...

New SWG Install - Low FC

Tell me your thoughts and what's more important... I start slamming right now. Turn of SWG and SLAM today through Saturday and then do another OCLT Saturday night. I hate to be off on CYA and add more and then have to SLAM. Or Run a Chlorine rise test tonight sundown to sun up? If I'm...

New SWG Install - Low FC

That's almost exactly how I did. Outside, back to sun and holding at waist. I'd squirter a little and then turn my head and glance back. But next time I'll be more attentive to the levels and fill to those and then glance.

New SWG Install - Low FC

I've also thought about SLAM again just to make sure for I got all the Baquacil. I'm going on vacation in 2 weeks and if I don't have this resolved, it will put me back at 0. Maybe I'm on the cusp of algae somewhere but that still seems like a lot of FC loss in less than 6 hours?

New SWG Install - Low FC

I've got a 1.0HP Single Speed pump that is original to the pool (4th year). I addedthe SWG and pump to my profile. Plan for 2025 is a VS pump. I was planning on running a Chlorin rise test tonight. The pool has not been used, mainly because of weather, and is full because of recent rain...

Also, Circupool just emailed me back and orientation does not matter.

New SWG Install - Low FC

Sorry, forgot that. It is 2LBs per Day machine. I have it set at 75% and pump run of 12hours. So I should be getting 8FC for the day. It ran this morning for 5.5 hours and I lost 8ppm from the 9ppm I had at 6:30.

New SWG Install - Low FC

I recently swapped from Baquacil to Chlorine, which I posted my progress on the Testing and Balancing Forum. I recently installed a RJ45+ and are having issues with it keeping up during the day. I did another OCLT last night and did not lose any, was at 9ppm at 9:00PM and 9ppm at 6:30AM. I...

Mid-Baquacil CDX to chlorine conversion, base touch!

I did all my hard hits after 6:00PM and early morning. I was waking up at 4:00AM trying to take advantage of no sun for a few hours. It ultimately still took close to 50 gallons of liquid Chlorine before I passed my first OCLT. Also, vacuum and scrubbing help a lot. You get all that goo...

Converting to Chlorine from Baquacil - Check my work

Gentlemen, I'm calling a close to this project. Though I'm still getting the hang of when to test and add chlorine to keep my FC in balance, I have passed the OCLT all 3 times I've tried this week, have my CYA on its way up towards where it needs to be for SWG, PH up to 7.4 and most everything...

Converting to Chlorine from Baquacil - Check my work

Morning update. Passed OCLT test and CC still at 0. I think I just got a little behind on the liquid chlorine to keep up with my increasing CYA levels. My FC this morning is still at 6.5ppm. That's the same as it was at 9:30PM.

Mid-Baquacil CDX to chlorine conversion, base touch!

I just went through this and didn't pass my OCLT until I changed my sand because it was so contaminated. Others on here recommended it was ok to change the sand as long as my water was clear and I was holding some chlorine overnight. 2 days later I passed my OCLT.

Converting to Chlorine from Baquacil - Check my work

Question... My CYA levels are now 50, I lost the dot about half way between 40 and 50 so I rounded up. My FC was low this afternoon so I added about 3 quarts of liquid chlorine at 2:00PM. I just rechecked my FC and it was about 1 ppm again at 9:00PM. I added another 3 quarts of liquid. It has...

I'll attach a pic tomorrow. I think it's clearer than it ever was under Baquacil.

Converting to Chlorine from Baquacil - Check my work

Update for everyone. I passed the OCLT Tuesday night. So far I have added 3 pounds of stabilizer and plan on testing levels tomorrow before adding more. For the last 2 days I have also kept my CC under 1. Thank you to everyone that helped. I'm planning on going SWG soon once I get...

Converting to Chlorine from Baquacil - Check my work

Ok, first full round of testing. Input appreciated if I need to lower the TA or raise the PH at this moment. This after I got everything hooked backup after the sand change and hadn't added any chlorine in a few hours and it was sunny all day today: FC=1 CC=.5 pH=7.0 TA=130 CH=200 CYA= <30

Converting to Chlorine from Baquacil - Check my work

Well, that was definitely the right call. The sand was packed with goo. Cleaned everything out, changed the sand and now I'm adding CYA 1 pound at a time. I'm hoping if I don't pass the OCLT tonight, I will tomorrow night. Thanks for everyone's help thus far.

No, another reason I want to change my sand. Instructions said add CYA after sand change.

Converting to Chlorine from Baquacil - Check my work

Update: 28 bottles in. I lost 3 ppm last night. I did another hard scrub and vacuum yesterday. Question. Can I go-ahead and change the sand in my filter? I'm thinking it may be contributing to my loss overnight. My water is clearer than it's ever been and I've scrubbed every thing I can...
