    Saltwater Solar Blanket Deterioration

I have been using solar covers since day 1 of my pool- 6 years now. I use the cover to start my swim season earlier and eke out a bit more in the fall. In the summer and winter it is dried, cleaned, and stored in our shop in big rubbermaid containers. I started with 12 mil on my 28 ft dia round...

Have to replace the pump and filter

I have been doing some googling and have discovered rave reviews on the hayward powerflow matrix 1 1/2 hp 2 spd but have found only one review so far on the pentair optiflow 1 1/2 hp 2 spd and it was from a disgruntled Amazon customer. I need more feed back before I decide. Anyone have any thoughts?

I am in the Dallas, Tx area, but have similar seasons to FL, though a bit colder ( Dec-Feb no swim), and a lot more temp variance during the should season. I currently have 50% coverage solar system that we built that does a wonderful job WHEN THERE IS SUN. We use a bubble solar cover as well...

    1 HP 2speed pump

Thanks, the difference in power was not stated, jut the difference in part number. I have a large solar heater field, plus pool is 24K gallons approx, and looking at adding a supplemental heat pump, so that is why I was thinking of the larger horsepower. My current supposed 1.5 hp Doughboy power...

    DoughBoy Power Pak II Problems

I have the same pump. No expert in this, but some similar experiences. The pump is now 3 years old and losing power each year. I have come to the conclusion that it is just a poorly made pump. The skimmer basket breaks, not because of the suction, of which there is not much any more, but...

    What's your current pool temp?

"Yo-yo" spring here. Were dying in March to get in pool with days of near 90 degrees, but water was 65F. But did not dare put out solar panels for fear of late freeze. Sure enough, had a late freeze in April. Put panels out Apr 12 expecting May like last year ( swam almost ever day of May with...

pink algae in skimmer of BBB pool?

Never used anything but BBB with 50 ppm borates. In winter I use polyquat and leave the pool "open" but it is way too cold to swim. Water is now 75 degrees. Getting ready to hook up solar system and start the season. A little early for us but has been really hot and dry. Just started adding...

Yes, did mean poolspaforum.com and yes, they do look to have cleaned up some. Still, this forum has been good to me, never sent me anything I did not want, always good info, so going to stay here.

    What's your current pool temp?

Trying to stay below 90. Solar cover off, don't really need the solar system even right now. Looks like the last couple summers of "too cold to swim" for Nothern regions are going to be canceled out this year. Been swimming for two weeks now. Will start running the solar system at night for...

Bad winter means pump took a beating. New pump suggestions?

You can look at the pictures on this link to see how our pump ended up as a pumpsicle this winter. we-have-an-ice-flow-problem-help-t18305.html It seems to have taken a lot out of the pump, as it does not have the flow it had last year (based on psi and flowmeter readings). Also, these Doughboy...

    peristaltic pump for chlorine

I'm definitely interested in this as well. A big AG pool sure goes through a lot of bleach, and liquid chlorine is not really available in our area. Would I want to inject the chlorine after my solar panel system? Other than dogs (not a surprise), what other things affect the hoses? And wow...

    What's your current pool temp?

Got the solar system up and running this weekend. Turned it on yesterday and got the pool to 80 degrees right before a cold front blew through. Back down to 72. Love this forum, problems with another

It appears that poolandspaforum.com has been taken over by spammers. Anyone having similar problems? Anyone know how to delete your account with them? I'm sticking with this forum-my water is crystal, despite FEET of rain this winter. And I never get spammed here.
