What is the point in closing your inground pool?

Depends on the climate and the area you live in. I live in The Netherlands, and my backyard has very high level of groundwater. Closing (and emptying) my pool would result in serious risk of groundwater pushing between the concrete wall and the liner. Our winters are not extremley long and col...

    New pool in the Netherlands

Upgraded my pool with 24 square meter solar heaters :) The biggest black rectangle is my house, the black rectangle on the left is the sitting area with the poolhouse. The solar heaters are placed on the roof of that. Not much sun since I installed, but with just a bit of direct sun (no...

Interesting post on gardenweb forum about TFP site

"Man made chlorine is very bad for skin, hair, allergies. Salt is an alternative as well as ozone." So i really don't need my SWG cell? Just dump in some salt and enjoy a chlorine free pool :D

    Time to Rant........

New sand filter and I don't have a clue

Do you have some specs about the filter tun? How many kilo's sand did you put in? 4 PSI = 0.3 bar that's not much pressure for sandfilter.

    Reverse calculate pool size

240 (kg salt) divided by 0.0043 (kg of salt per liter) equals = 55813.95348837209 Your pool has roughly 55813 liters water. If you use 55813 liter in the poolcalculator with 0 salt and a target of 4300 ppm the result is to add 241 kg I hope this anwers your quoestion?

New Pool Deck - Cracking Issues - Resolution Options

So He accepted to do the job, mess up and then ask you to hire someone (at your cost) to find out if he can fix the mistake? What is he going to do if that engineer tells you the soil is to bad for re-pour? Like other allready posted : you have a contract asking him to make a pool deck without...

Hayward salt cell panel runs hot

Not familiar with your type/brand. Mine has cooling vents on the outside so I assume it is normal. After all it's a big trafo. Perhaps you can put some spacers between the wall and the unit ?

    SWG Chorine Production

1.5 lbs per day = 680 grams per 24 hours (sorry, metric guy) = 28 grams (chlorine gas) per hour. I can;t figure out how many liters/gallons your pool is. My SQG produce allmost the same and will raise FC with 0.6 ppm per hour. You can use the values in the poolcalculator to calculate the FC...

2d inspection failed due to secondary boundary-bond fence-3 ft from waters edge

Why wouldn't certain windows sizes not pass? I don't understand the relation between a pool and windows in the house ?

2d inspection failed due to secondary boundary-bond fence-3 ft from waters edge

Hope you get it filled soon ;) I can't help with any of the fence or inspection issues, there is zero regulation on that here. Just dig a hole (OK, you need to check for wires and plumbing) and fill it with water. That's it :P

2d inspection failed due to secondary boundary-bond fence-3 ft from waters edge

I would say : We cancelled the fence because it's going to slow down the inspection.

Thinking of a DIY system for ORP, pH and SWG

My pH is very stable for this season. It stays at 7.2 every test, haven't put any pH plus or minus in the pool this year. I could start with the pH project. Insert a probe, monitor behaviour and after that see if I need/can make a autofeeder for liquid pH (minus or/and plus). When that is doen...

Thinking of a DIY system for ORP, pH and SWG

This is my second year with the pool, first year working with TFTestkit. Learned about CYA this year opening the pool. Since I have only SWG I had no CYA in th pool last year. I still have to find a good resource to buy CYA in my country. We have very less poolshops in here, and most are all...

Thinking of a DIY system for ORP, pH and SWG

My pool is controlled with a homebuild system for turning on pump, SWG, heatpump, lights and measuring temperatures. It is all working perfectly, but I want to take the next step : measure pH and chlorine. The Atlas Scientific sensors (pH and ORP) seem to be good sensors for this setup. I have...

    Pool Store scam or truth?

Accorindg to the the chart Pool School - Recommended Levels your CYA is to high. The only way to lower CYA is to replace an amount of water (about 50% in your case). You have zero chlorine and pH is to low. Not sure what a normal pH level of tapwater is in USA, but here (Netherlands) it would...

Starting with TFPC in the Netherlands

Is it reasonable to measure FC daily and calucalte how much you loose on average and generate on average witch SWG ? So that I could make estamimate loss in 1 day and calculuate how long the SWG should run to get back at desired value ? Yesterday at 17:30 I had FC 0.5 whith only 1 hour...

Starting with TFPC in the Netherlands

Thanks for answering :) I only used some tabs in the very first day during building, but thats a year ago. From there I only used SWG. 3.4 kilo is a lot (and expensive)! On the other hand : I assume I would earn back that money because I need much less SWG running ?

Starting with TFPC in the Netherlands

This is my second season, the first season started with the build of the pool. I have a rectangular vinyl pool, size 8m x 4m and 1.5m deep. About 40k liters of water. I use a SWG. Last year I did checks with a aquacheck and stips, this year I want to start with my TF-100 testkit. Current values...

Taylor kit, impossible to buy in the netherlands?

Jup, you can't find them here. I was lucky someone offered it to buy for me and ship to Nl, but it's not cheap since you pay US shipping costs + shipping to NL .. and now I hope I won't be charged with some import taxes or something like that. If I read the ducht/neglian forums, they mostly use...

Pump run time vs. SWG % setting

I totally do not understand why all the manufacturers went with the % generation time settings, it is inconvenient to maintain and you allways have to think abou the SWG when running extra pump hours. My SWG is setup at 100% and is cut from the power in normal situation. My control computer...

Best time to run the pump?

Rule of thumb we use overhere : you should be able to pump the entire pool in 4 hours, and depending on swimming day or not you should pump 1 to 2 cycles

First pool, first SWG: adding salt at end of season?

The cell is in clear housing, but I understand I have to remove the cell to take a good look. Will do that this week - didn;t see any build up when looking in normal operation. I have an extra rule on the poolcomputer that forbids the relais to be on when the pump is not. You simply cannot turn...
