Thanks. Your correct that high CYA is not causing my lose in Chlorine. So OCLT test was good. Will a solar cover during the day slow chlorine consumption? Will the solar cover cause other issue.

Appreciate the quick response. I use the FAS-DPD method for CYA measurements. Is there a better CYA measurement method to get a better CYA as that is the only thing I can think of ... CYA higher than I am reading .... then I would need to drain some water to get the CYA back down.

I did the OCLT test. Results as follows. Wed 6:15 PM the CL was 4.5 ppm. Added a 1 gallon CL Wed 8:30 PM the CL was 11.5 ppm. Thur 5:45 AM the CL was 11.5 ppm. CL stayed at same level through night

Just installed 1.5 Whisperflo 2 speed pump. Current approach is 24 hr operation with 20 hrs low rpm and 4 hrs high rpm after chlorine add. Any better pump operational patterns based?

Thanks for all you input. I bit the bullet and replaced the PVC. Issue resolved. 1 or 2 bubbles the size of nickel on glass but no more and holding priming after pump stopped.

Yes as a temp fix due to other commitments until I can repair properly. Some say close all inbound pump valves use a vac on pump inbound to drawn PVC glue into the crack while there is a suction on the line

Update: wrap a bag around the coupler between the 2 90s before pump and filled it with water and the small amount of bubbles when pump was running went almost clear suspect that is where the leak and causes the slow drain of pump basket when pump is off. Still not sure why it does not leak when...
