    I put the hose on the vacuum head and put it in the pool, then I take the other end and put it on the outlet port while pump is running to fill it with water. Then I just slip it over the vacuum port and yes I just went to lowes and purchased a rubber slip on adapter that fits on the end. Works...

The intex pump recently died so I replaced it with a 3/4HP Game pump and upgraded the return outlet to a Hayward.     Me and the wife did it yesterday. I Had her hold a bowl on the inside while I unscrewed it then quickly replaced outlet yes you loose some water but not much just move quickly :)

    Yes I am talking about the puck floaters. I have always used them seems to keep the chlorine level close to correct. I guess I could tie it off.

    I have not received my skimmer yet, but I do not understand why the gasket has to be cut in half? Shouldn't it seal from the inside without having to be cut in half? Just trying to get all of the fact's before I install mine.

    Thanks guys! I did open it today and good thing I did, it was starting to get some algae on the side where the water line was. Pool temp was right at 60, I shocked the **** out of it and cleaned pump is running full power ahead!:D - - - Updated - - - Now if I can keep the **** birds off of it...

    Do they offer any kind of screw on plugs for the inlet and outlet of the pump fittings so that pool does not have to be drained down do much?

    How far down are you guy's draining the water before covering? Below the inlet port looks to be almost half way down on the pool to me. Brian

    Yes I guess it would, Sorry. It is a 16X48 intex ultra frame. I have seen that several have done this but It just seems as if it would need to flex.

    I have been thinking about hard plumbing my pool but I also have the fear of the hard PVC not allowing any flex. Has anyone had any problems with this. Thanks Brian Laib
