I'm getting a lot of rust coming out of jets when using pool heater. It's an older unit. Jandy light 2 gas heater. I want to know if I flush the rust out somehow or what is suggested to get rid of the rust.

70 bucks isn't bad if you can get 4 years or better out of them. I'll probably just replace them. Thanks for the input.

Thanks SkyKid. But it was more of the pool not giving up I guess you could say. Still not all the way clear. But we got in it for the first time yesterday. I expect in just a few more days it will be crystal clear. I'll post pics when/if it gets there.

This is correct. That is what I've been doing and its been working well. Within 10 hours or so the pressure is up 5 to 8 psi. Time to backwash then. But its different each time it seems. Give or take a couple hours or a couple psi. None the less, Its working well for me.

But let me say... I'm not in the clear yet. But close. Still crossing my fingers.

I am seeing an improvement everyday. I can see the shallow end plain as day and now I can make out the bottom of the deep end. Still no green in sight. The DE filter aid is no joke. It at least doubles the filter capabilities of a sand filter. I'm impressed.

So last night I used the de filter aid. It not actually DE. Its Economical D.E. Filter Media Alternative Cellulose Fiber. It seems to work pretty good. I can see further down into the pool this morning. Not much but definitely a small improvement. Hopefully this will continue to help and speed...

I haven't been shocking. But it seems to be holding the chlorine all day. Nothing is turning green and its starting to clear. This may be the wrong way to do it but at least its making progress. We'll just have to wait and see what happens from this point.

Neither one of those. I tried to find a pic of it but couldn't. It had a red label and was in a white 4 or 5 pound bucket for $18. He did say it wasn't DE but I didn't read the ingredients. I guess it would do the same thing as DE, maybe just not as dramatically. I think I will look at walmart...

I have not purchased DE yet. I went by the pool store yesterday and they have something else called "filter aid". It says for use in sand and DE filters. Should I just stick with DE? I will get something and do as you suggested. Sounds good to me.

I did backwash today at lunch. The only reason I mentioned anything about the pressure is because it took 2-3 days to raise 5 psi. Didn't know if this was normal.

Well thanks. But this may have been all for not. Its not green yet but I know it will be soon. I went home at lunch today and noticed a slight improvement. I can see further down the wall than before and I can now just make out the bottom of the shallow end. It looks to be white on the bottom.
