Well water in a pool? Help please.

You there Dave? Trouble brewing? Pool was very cloudy this morning. I added some bleach yesterday and some stabilizer was added a few days back. I back-washed the filter twice today and it is about 35-40% better. My levels are: FC 6 CC 0 T.A. 120 CH 140 PH 7.5 CYA 40 Before I added the...

Well water in a pool? Help please.

Well water in a pool? Help please.

So... The pool has been open for a week, crystal clear water and the chemistry was absolutely perfect. I came home today and discovered one of the hoses my hubby hooked up, popped off and was draining the water from the pool (from the heater). The amount drained was about 4-5 inches and the...

    Above ground winter pool cover

Good morning! Should a winter pool cover be tight (relatively) across the top of the pool when its closed? I live in Michigan and we get lot's of snow. I have a larger cover on it (about an extra 10 inches at least) and the "extra" length is laying inside the pool on the water line. I'm not...

PH level increase while "slamming" the pool?

Hi chem-geek! I figured but thought I would ask. I just tested, and the FC is 14 and CC is 0. I will follow the process, be a good girl and be patient! Thanks for your help! Barb

PH level increase while "slamming" the pool?

Hi all.... I started the slamming process yesterday after reading the instructions and I'm a little confused. Yesterday, CC was 1, CYA was 40, PH was 7.2. TA was 120 (normally runs around this figure). My reason for slamming the pool is that it had a "haze" for the last week or so and the...

    Quick question on high TA.

Ug...disreguard...I found the info I needed.......In pool school. Need to lower the TA with acid, and use the fountain thing to bring the PH back up. :-)

    Quick question on high TA.

Good morning all.....this morning readings are: FC-5 PH-7.5 TA-150 CYA-40 CH-240 The CDT for CC is 6, (11 drops on the first, and 1 drop on the second) My questions are: Could the 150 be my TA's happy place? It seems so high. P.H has been stable. We have been using the pool daily for the...

    Just want to say thanks!

Thanks to everyone who has helped me the last few weeks with this BBB. It is so important for me to get this method right because I have a physical/mentally impaired grandson (Kayden, picture attached), who has some serious skin issues. He loves to swim and be in the water, but if it has too...

    CC level at 65????

Ok 14 drops of the R0871, 5 drops of R0003....it is clear. That means I have no CC correct?

    CC level at 65????

Ok, I thought I had this figured out but i'm not sure. Testing this morning.. CL - 5 PH - 7.0 TA - 150 CYA - 30 CAL - 250 CC - 65 (13 drops to change the color) x 0.5 = 65? I added abt 32 oz of stabilizer two days ago when the level was at 20. It has came up to 30. That CC level tells me...

    Spreadsheet to do pool calculations

Hi, Thanks! The spreadsheet is cool and I don't have to sign onto the internet to plug in my numbers (newbie at this). Would it be difficult to make a second sheet so I can keep a running table of my numbers by date? :-) :-) Barb

New to testing with my TF-100. Not so sure.

You are correct Mike. Not only was it not enough for a 14,600 pool, the calculation of water in my pool was incorrect. The installer said it was about 14600. I found a calculator and it is really 18600 (24 Round, 54 high, 6 foot deep end). And that puppy is full. I also finally figured out...

New to testing with my TF-100. Not so sure.

Hi all.... It appears I need to go back to pool school and refresh myself! :-) I thought that CYA was too high (not sure where I read that number is too high). I added stabilizer yesterday (about a cup in the nylon). I just checked it, there is about half left. I should wait a couple days...

New to testing with my TF-100. Not so sure.

So, I have been using the Aqua strips until my TF-100 came in. They (aqua strips) have been coming back fine as far as the results go. I Just finished testing with my new TF-100 kit and I there is a big difference. My results... TA-120 PH 7.2 F.C. 5 ppm CYA 20 Cl BR 2-4 Hmmm.... I know that...

Double check my number's for me

Can someone double check my number's for me on the operating cost of my pump? 15amp, 115v. KWH cost at highest rate is 0.08257 (rounded up to 0.9). Running the pump 4 hours a day. I'm coming up with a cost of 18.63 at 4 hours x 30 days.....seems low....:-/

Totally screwed up..with brand new pool.

So... We just installed a new 24 round, 54 high, AG pool. Less than 5 days since the water was put in and the chemicals are already screwed up. Initially, the water test showed TH-1000, TC-0, FC-0, ph-low, TA-0, CA-0. I was going to use the BBB method and made the mistake of going to the...

    Where do I start?

Hi all! I'm new to this BBB. I have a 24 round, with a fresh load of water put in yesterday. I have never done the BBB method. I will be going out to get the recommended tester and things needed to maintain the pool. My question is, where do I start? Obviously, I test the water, then go...
