    Pump suction pipe size?? Re-plumbing?

Thanks. I am replacing all piping from the ground up. So just for my clarification. I gain by less head loss through the piping even though the flow rate won't significantly change on the original supply and return lines(1.5 in and out). Would it be worth extra cost to go any larger? Initial...

    Pump suction pipe size?? Re-plumbing?

I am installing a new Hayward Tristar VSP pump and the current plumbing from the single skimmer is 1.5". Would I gain anything by a short run of 2" pipe from the existing 1.5" piping to the pump, through the filter and through the SWG back to 1.5" return?? I plan on putting in a divert valve...

    Skimmer question....

I don't know if you are still looking at the responses here but it seems to me that if you are having an issue with the plumbing where you vacuum from, the problem is inside the plumbing. Are you sure you didn't suck something into the piping that is restricting the flow from the skimmer??? Just...

    Pump replacement question

Thank you everyone for the responses. Joyfulnoise you nailed it. So which costs less to operate. A 1 hp pump at half speed or 1.5 hp variable speed at low setting? Long term savings being the driving factor.

    Pump replacement question

So assuming I purchase a robot pool cleaner and a cartridge filter I can purchase a very low flow(>45 gpm) 1/2 hp pump? The electrical savings will be equivalent to a variable speed pump( not including the new equipment obviously)? Any issues with swg operation at low flow rates? I found a 1/15...

    Pump replacement question

I need to replace my pool pump. The motor arched and sparked the last time I tried to start it. I have been researching variable speed pumps versus single speed pumps. I have a 300 lb. sand filter and 1.5 inch piping. The previous owner put a 1.5 HP Supastream pump which I can't find information...

will adding muriatic acid protect my FC like CYA

I have a 20,000gal pool with a SWG that I was planning to clean with muriatic acid(the cell not the pool). My friend was told to just dump the left over acid it into the pool. When I tested after being covered all winter I had 10 ppm FC, PH 7.4, CCs 0, and CYA was 0. The water temperature was 57...

    SWG pool problems please help

FC 0 Ph 7.5 Ta 70 Ch 250 Cya 50 My swg won't generate because the salt level is too high. After the second drain 9 in. & refill salt was 1600 ppm. Added 80 lbs. of salt. Waiting 24 hrs to test. I did test when it was operating and the generator was definitely working. With the new readings I...

    SWG pool problems please help

The water is clear. That never changed. My chemistry has shown all levels are normal but I can't get my salt levels normal to see if the generator can maintain the chlorine at the right levels. My test kit doesn't test for salt so I am hoping someone can tell me how to figure out why the salt...

    SWG pool problems please help

I have to start off by saying I am new to pool ownership and I am hating it so far. I installed a SWG because everyone I talked to gave them so much praise. So I put salt in initially with a reading of about 3700ppm on the SWG and Stip indicating approx. 4000ppm. Close enough. My Free chlorine...
