    Proper ladder placement?

I have an 18', round, above ground pool that "came with the house." I'm not happy with the location that the previous owners had the ladder (plastic a-frame) and am wondering if it's ok to move it. Currently, it's located at about 3:00, if the intake door is 12:00. I figure that's probably...

waterco sand filter leaking repair or replace

My tank split this year, too...I drained it last fall, but apparently I wasn't able to get all of the water out like I thought. I have found a replacement tank for it, but was wondering if anyone has had any success in repairing this sort of damage? The split is right at the seam of the tank...

Replacing one upright on round AGP

Awesome! Thankyou so much! We haven't attempted anything yet, as we were preparing for a barbecue today. Had about 25 people over, so there was a lot of cooking to do! Probably soon now, though.

Replacing one upright on round AGP

"My advice....use a weedwacker on that area from now on :)" I TOLD my hubby his zero turn doesn't replace the line trimmer! He seems to make a game out of seeing just how close he can get. Trying not to get TOO mad about it, since I took out half of one of his blueberry bushes a few weeks ago...

Replacing one upright on round AGP

Thank you for your advice. I haven't been able to find a replacement part to match. I think we'll try repairing (my husband and I are both cramftsmen) and put that in place until I can locate a matching upright. I found the number for the company today, so will contact them directly tomorrow.

Replacing one upright on round AGP

I may just have to kill my husband. :hammer: Yesterday, while mowing the lawn, he caught the rear wheel of the mower on one of the uprights of my pool and pulled it out of position. It's pretty bent up and detached at the bottom. I'm hoping we can take it off, straighten it out and...

    cheap pool heater

Xanadu, that's awesome! How big is your pool and how much (on an average, sunny day) heat do you gain in a day?

    Solar Cover/Chlorine Loss

So...my question spurred me to do a google search (not sure why I didn't do this before) and came up with this: The difference between a solar pool cover and a standard opaque swimming pool cover is that the solar cover still lets in a significant amount of light whereas a traditional flat...

    Solar Cover/Chlorine Loss

I've been wondering the same thing....anyone else want to weigh in on this? It seems to me that it would block UV, but I was told it wouldn't by a pool store employee, too. Anyone have some real facts on this?

How many days at shock levels?

I opened my pool two days ago, backwashed and rinsed my filter and gave it an initial shock with a 1lb bag of ProTeam Power Magic AC Superoxidizer (Calc hypoch 47.6%; sodium tet 20.0%) and 12 oz of concentrated algaecide. I didn't test first as I hadn't found my strips yet. There was some...

Really want to enjoy my pool this year...

Ok...so no inline chlorinator, got it! Guess I'll have to get on the stick and test much more frequently! Heading on over to check out which test kit to order. Any thoughts on whether I should change my sand?

Really want to enjoy my pool this year...

Thanks for your quick replies! I did switch to the BBB method late in the year, will probably go that route again, as it seems silly to spend a lot of money for the same/similar chemicals wrapped in "pool" packaging. "Tablet feeders tend to raise your CYA level, which will eventually get too...

Really want to enjoy my pool this year...

I am a "new" pool owner and have a bunch of questions. I bought my first home in December, 2011 and it came with a pool. (YAY!!) It's an 18' round, above ground pool with a Pentair Sand Dollar sand filter...which I ran pretty much 24-7 all season. The pool was installed in the summer of 2011...
