Losing water. Can't find the leak.

I plugged the returns and i'm still losing water, so it's not in the plumbing. I inspected the skimmer again and found a very slow leak using food dye where the black arrow points to in the picture. It only leaks in a small area, maybe an inch long, it doesn't leak at the rest of that joint...

Losing water. Can't find the leak.

Overnight I lost 1/4" in 12 hours with the pump off. Yes my plumbing was winterized but when i opened the pool I had a crack in the skimmer, which i sealed with Epoxy before I refilled the pool. The epoxy is holding very well and food coloring is not showing any signs of leaks in that area, I...

Thanks, but I don't have lights. I'll report back tomorrow if lost any water with the pump off.

Losing water. Can't find the leak.

I had my backwash hose connected to the backwash port, so originally i didn't check there. I just went out and removed the hose to check for leaks. It ran for a few minutes without a drop. That doesn't seem to be it. I marked the current water level and i turned the pump off. Tomorrow morning...

Losing water. Can't find the leak.

I opened my vinyl IG pool last week, and have noticed that I lose about 1/2" of water per day. I have a slight drip at the pump, at a rate of 15 drips per minute, which according to a water loss calculator that I found online, amounts to about a gallon during a 12 hour run. That certainly does...

    Bleach prices 2013

Is the HD 3/121 deal correct? The product description says Clorox 1.4 Gallon Germicidal Bleach. Product Size (oz.) 182.0 I wouldn't be surprised if the title is incorrect, and its actually $4.27 each for the 182oz bottles

Pool liner coming up at the steps

There are no wrinkles anywhere. I don't know much about the pool or the liner. The previous owners could have had the water low at some point in the past, but I have no way of knowing. I'm just not sure if there is a way to at least protect the border and this first step from tearing.

    Bleach prices 2013

I can't find any great deals in NJ. Ive been to WalMart, Costco, Home Depot, and Target. They all sell 121oz of 8.25% for $2.99. ($0.30) A local large pool store sells 5 gallon containers of 12.5% for $17.99 ($0.225)

Pool liner coming up at the steps

Here is an image of what's going on. I can press down on the border very easily. At the bottom of the border right before the rest of the vinyl, there is a crease, which I suspect is from when it was in the corner of the stair. Now the border seems to have come up off the back, and is now on a...

Pool liner coming up at the steps

No, they don't have any texture. By harder vinyl I meant the border is soft, where the rest of the vinyl is a bit harder. However, this soft border is what makes up most of the first step, for some reason. Now since the border came off of the wall, it is now stretched diagonally across the first...

Pool liner coming up at the steps

The part that detached from the wall, and is now on a diagonal down to the step is the border. The harder vinyl begins in the middle of that first step. Just about where the water meets the first step is where the border begins. Kind of hard to explain I guess. I'll post a photo later.

Pool liner coming up at the steps

The deepest part of the first step is probably only an 1.5" under water.

Pool liner coming up at the steps

It was halfway up the skimmer when I got the house. I've been backwashing a lot and any time i need to add water, i bring it back up to halfway.

Pool liner coming up at the steps

First post and i'd like to say that pool school and the forum has helped me so much with my first pool! I just bought a new home with a pool, which due to Hurricane Sandy, has been exposed for about 7 months. I spent the last week shocking and cleaning the debris. I noticed that the first step...
