    4 hard days...worth it.

Update. Got the new "tile" in over the weekend. Had a little trouble cutting the glass, but it's ok for now. We also filled in some of the cracked concrete. Next, we will lay travertine around the edge. That is the plan, anyway. Also looking into a spray deck...so we may even out the glass and...

    Semi Pool "Closing"

Ah, right. Do you think adding the correct amount for the size of the pool will keep me safe for a couple of days of no circulation? Or should I add in a bit extra?

    Semi Pool "Closing"

So should I just broadcast that in after I drain the pool? Or should I maybe add it in the night before?

    Semi Pool "Closing"

So, I am going to be re-tiling the top 9 inches of my pool in the next few days. I am currently waiting on the tile to come in (should be here Thursday). During this time, I will need to drain the pool below the skimmer line and leave it that way for probably two days. This, to let the...

Thanks. I have a thread still going on the progress of the pool. I am currently in the process of retiling the top 9 inches and just finished removing the ugly rock surrounding the pool. I will continue to update it with more photos: 4-hard-days-worth-it-t59369.html It's raining here today, so...

I'm not sure. This pool is over 40 years old, so I have no idea what the cost was to build it.

Started taking the ugly rocks off today. Here's an updated photo. [attachment=0:pjoels3y]ImageUploadedByTapatalk 21370105935.866253.jpg[/attachment:pjoels3y] Next, we're going to retile the top 9 inches inside the pool and figure out what we want to do with the trim around the pool. I'll...

    SpeedStir Question

Thanks for the replies, everyone. That is how I used the stirrer yesterday, just wanted to make sure I was using it correctly. I think I will pick up a few more bars as well. Maybe some other shapes too.

 I used it for the first time yesterday. It's awesome, just want to make sure I am using it correctly. Definitely takes the hassle out of stirring.

    SpeedStir Question

So my SpeedStir came in the mail yesterday. :whoot: I have a couple of dumb questions: Do you use it for all tests that call for mixing, stirring, etc? Do you add in the first reagent while stirring, then add in the next while still stirring? Stop stirring in between?

I have been on here for a little bit, but never introduced myself. :) My name is Jeremy, and live in Spring, TX (suburb of Houston). I have been around pools my entire life and helped my mother "balance" the pool at my childhood house. That really only consisted of testing the water a few times...

    CYA disappearing & puck question.

Not sure about your first question. But for the second, you can use the Pool Calculator to see what effects the trichlor pucks will have on your pool. Near the bottom, there is a section titled "Effects of adding chemicals," where you can add in your pucks (make sure you have filled in the size...
