    What's your current pool temp?

84 when I went home for lunch. I turned on the solar panels while there, so hopefully it got to 87 or so.

    Jandy 1400 to Aquarite Conversion

The Hayward is installed. I barely had enough room to get the 12" of straight pipe upstream from the flow sensor. It took me aobut 2.5 hours to cut everything out and replumb it. So far, so good.

    Jandy 1400 to Aquarite Conversion

I talked with a plumber friend and he was the one that said it was a bushing. I have found parts that were threaded inside and out like I would need, but with a 3.5" ID on the big part and 3.25" OD on the Hayward, 1/8" thickness doesn't leave anything for threads. I was never able to find any...

    Jandy 1400 to Aquarite Conversion

I did call Hayward to try and see if there was an adapter. THey told me to go to Home Depot. HD isn't going to have anything like this. Does such an adapter exist? I been searching for "bushings," online but no luck yet.

    Jandy 1400 to Aquarite Conversion

I have replaced 3 flow sensors in the 8 years I have had it. Last year, instead of buying another flow sensor, I bought a whole cell. By the end of the summer, I then started getting warning codes. Either the front, back, or both boards are out. I am just tired of constantly replace Jandy...

    Jandy 1400 to Aquarite Conversion

If there is not an adapter that will go from a Jandy to Aqua fitting, then is there a piece that can go in where the cell is currently located without any cutting? I guess I could leave the old cell there. Image left there is an elbow. Once it makes that turn, I have about a 20" or so...

    Jandy 1400 to Aquarite Conversion

Here are my constraints. THere is a place downstream I can put all of it, but it would be nice to put it where the old cell was.

    Jandy 1400 to Aquarite Conversion

I'm changing my Jandy system to Hayward Aquarite. The Hayward cell is the same length as the Jandy. They are both for 2" plumbing. That's even better. The problem is that the Jandy has a bigger fitting that connects to it's cell than the Aquarite one does. I am very tight room due to...

    Jandy Aquapure 1400 malfunctioning

I'm in the same boat. I replaced my salt cell in early summer and by mid-summer was getting error codes indicating the board. I did the same tests and it looked like my front board was toast. I decided to get through the summer by using bleach and then decide what to do. It would be easier...

Jandy pump - advise on replacement

I wound up ordering a Jandy 2HP VS FloPro Variable Speed Pump. I do have solar panels, and that one came in either 1hp or 2hp only. I think the elevation difference between my pump and the panels is around 20' or so. Tonight I'm going to check all of my fittings. It was working fine...

Jandy pump - advise on replacement

I have an 8 year old Jandy Stealth 1.5 hp pump. I went home for lunch, and while there, checked on the pool. The pump was running but no water was moving. I look in the basket, and it's empty. I can feel heat. I turn it off. THe water in the basket was at least 150. The PVC running to...

Aqua Pure w/ Fusion Soft 1400

I usually get a spike and code when I add salt. It's often immediately too. I used to add it in all around the pool, but found any that winds up on the slope or deep end gets sucked in the bottom return and this causes the spike in concentration. If I dump it in the shallow end, it may take a...

    Aqua Pure 1400 - code 172 and 180

Those codes are what triggered the replacement in April. I'm just concerned that the same codes coming back after 2 months may mean more than simply a faulty replacement unit. I've sent an email to Jandy's warranty department. Hopefully, they can get things resolved.

    Aqua Pure 1400 - code 172 and 180

Late last summer, my SWG got where it was working about half the time. This is the 8th summer for the unit. About 2-3 years ago I changed out the flow sensor. For pool start up this year, I bought a new cell and flow sensor. This was mid April or so. It has given me some some codes...

    Iron staining help

CC was 2.0, so that chlorine I added is fighting off something for sure. 2 bottles of the aquachem stain stuff has it looking better, but not great. I had 1 bottle of polyquat on hand, so I put that in there. I may have to get a bottle or two of stain stuff from a pool store until my metal...

    Iron staining help

I'll look for them. She said that there are no ingredients listed and their website is useless. I bet they changed the formula. I'm going to order 4qt of proteam metal magic and see what that does for me. Thanks a bunch.

    Iron staining help

It's clear, transparent green, then will darken to tea colored. The 2nd go around I thought maybe it was algae. I dumped in the citric and got blue again in a few hours, so I ruled out algae. I have just never had it act like this before. Buying 6 bottles of the stuff stunk. The kind I buy...

    Iron staining help

Each year I fight iron staining. This year has been exceptional. When I uncovered the pool in mid April, it was pretty bad. I put in 1 qt of polyquat 60 and maybe 2#'s of citric acid. It looked great. A week later, I started trying to pull up the chlorine level. The pool turned green. I...

    crack in concrete & trim

It looks like the two corner pieces are heaving up and then pulling away from the pool. Is that correct? I think that's somehow a temperature of freezing issue. The thing is, the concrete shrinks when it gets cold. If you had an expansion issue where the straight sections were expanding...

    crack in concrete & trim

A few macro type photos might help. A big picture often helps put the pieces into context a bit better. As far as the basement goes, sounds like they didn't use a free flowing backfill material and didn't adequately waterproof the outside of the walls.

    crack in concrete & trim

From the top picture, it looks like settlement to me. The joint at the top of the photo looks clean, so those two segments are still aligned, which then makes it seem like the bottom one has dropped. What does the next adjacent joint look like? I'm a structural engineer and see poor...

    solar blanket alternatives

The reason that I've never gotten a real is that it seems like it's in the way. You'd pretty much limit access to the pool at the deep end from the diving board only. It may not be as big of a deal as I'm making it, but that's why I've resisted it. It sounds like getting a new blanket and...

    solar blanket alternatives

Yes, I'm just trying to hold the heat in at night and realize it won't add heat. I do have solar panels for that. I may wind up trying getting one and cutting it into strips. As-is, I can put the blanket on and take it off by myself, but my wife cannot, so that's part of the issue too. I...

    solar blanket alternatives

Regular plastic would work, but is still bulky. This article does a pretty good job explaining the whole thing: http://www.energysavers.gov/your_home/w ... opic=13140 Using circles of foam would cover about 70% of the area. Not ideal, but not too bad. The foam would be several times more...
