Laars heater with bad pressure switch corrosion/leak

So an update…. I replaced the pressure switch, replaced the corroded female disconnects on the wires leading to the pressure switch, and replaced the fuse…. And she fired right up! Yeah. Very cool. Thank you to everyone for the tips and info. Much appreciated!

Laars heater with bad pressure switch corrosion/leak

Yes, I did receive a largely plastic replacement switch. I suppose I will just skip any oil and see how it works out. Thanks again. I will report back later today if I have a working pool heater (fingers crossed)

Laars heater with bad pressure switch corrosion/leak

Thanks for that info! I just got off the phone with Jandy, who would not give me any info about the install procedure - as I am just a homeowner and not a pool professional. Said they could not do it. well… I do have sae30 oil for my Honda mower oil changes. Should I just forget about the...

Laars heater with bad pressure switch corrosion/leak

I now have the part and I want to perform the swap today… but I am reading something about adding sae30 motor oil to the copper pressure switch tube/line before replacing with new pressure switch? I was reading that on an Amazon review of the replacement part. I have a call into Zodiac/Jandy...

Laars heater with bad pressure switch corrosion/leak

I see that the part (if I have the correct part# R0013200) is inexpensive, and I believe I can handle the fix... if I am lucky enough that is all it is. Probably doesn't hurt to give it a try. I am a little nervous to try what MS suggested, testing by bypassing the switch for a quick test to...

Laars heater with bad pressure switch corrosion/leak

I figured it was bit long in the tooth... but we rarely use it. It worked great last year, the few times we used it to goose the temp as we transitioned out of the cold months. Anyway, like I said, I'll be having my pool installer guys give it a look and tell me what they think. I just wanted...

Laars heater with bad pressure switch corrosion/leak

I don't see a manufacturing date, but the pool was put in back in 1998. I figured I could replace this part, but I see three pressure switches indicated in the parts list. I am guessing that this particular part is R0013200, a 2 psi switch. I am not sure on that, but it looks closest to the...

Laars heater with bad pressure switch corrosion/leak

Hi all! It is looking like our Laars heater to a dump. We turned it on, but nothing was happening. So I had my electrician out (who wired our new Pentair VSF) to check that it was getting power. He verified that it was, and he checked the fuse - which had blown. We grabbed a new fuse and...

Spa air line replacement to Len Gordon unit question

Hi all. I had an spa air tubing line that was yanked from the piping years ago. I didn't do it. Anyhow, I am replacing the air line tubing to the air switch at the spa end. I ran a fish tape through the conduit and pulled a string through. I am going to fish the new clear vinyl tubing...

Raise spa blower height to accommodate equip change?

Thank you for the replies! I figured there would be no harm, should I need to raise the blower a little bit to accommodate the new breaker box. Though, I may have found a spa breaker box of similar size to the timer, that will house the large Pentair GFCI and also fit without needing to raise...

Raise spa blower height to accommodate equip change?

Hi all! I am installing an IntelliFlo VSF to replace the old filter pump. I had my electrician over to discuss the electrical situation, as I need somewhere to house the Pentair PA 220GF for the new pump. The old pump ran on an Intermatic timer. Since I no longer need the Intermatic timer to...

New load center for filter pump replacement

Thank you, James. I have been looking through article 680 on mike holt com. I never considered that the breaker itself is a switch. Okay, so the pump shutoff switch I have now in a junction box at the equipment is no longer necessary with the addition of required 2-pole GFCI for filter pump...

New load center for filter pump replacement

Thanks, Herman. Yes, Pentair VSF will be a welcome addition after many years on the old single speed pump. This is for the pool at my Mother's house. She is not interested in any further automation. I am just trying to help get the pool filter pump replaced, while providing a simple and...

New load center for filter pump replacement

Hi all! I am replacing a now dead Pentair WFE-28 with a variable speed intelliFlo VSF. I will no longer need the timer which operated the filter pump, so I figured it would be best to upgrade electrical at equipment side using a load center that can mount on exterior wall of house. I have to...

    Pump replacement advice

Appreciate this explanation. Regarding the pump... IntelliFlo 011056 looks very nice. Is a top consideration. For near the same price, is the IntelliFlo 3 an unnecessary upgrade? I see it does not have the keypad of the VSF. I suppose it can only be programmed/controlled via mobile app or...

    Pump replacement advice

Thanks, Allen. I was chatting with a pool service company that I have coming out next week that said they simply remove the pins on existing timer and let timer run 24/7. That way I have a shut off if I need to service pump... but that raised my brow, as I fully expected to have to update the...

    Pump replacement advice

I imagine the Qf220A in a box is to replace the Intermatic timer as shut off... as in to meet code, correct?
