    Calcium Hardness in Florida

What's the most affordable way to raise calcium in a pool in Florida, where they dont sell Ice Melt (or is it worth ordering that stuff to HD?) We have all the typicall pool stoors and home improvement stores, plus amazon.

    Pump Done?

I hear, I guess though protecting it from the sun couldnt hurt. I guess there is no evidence either way, I suppose it's not subject to a research paper 🤷‍♂️

    Pump Done?

Thanks everyone! It was indeed the seals, I found someone to fix it for not too much $$$ He did advise I should get a plastic cover for the pump to protect it from rain and sun, to extend its lifespan. Is that good advice? Thanks again everyone! Hopefully I won't have to revisit a new pump...

My only issue is, even getting someone to come out and diagnose costs $100 :( Is there a easy way to diagnose myself?

It is still possible to install a Single speed down here in Florida. I'm not sure how much longer that will last.

    Pump Done?

I've got an old 1.65 HP pump. It's got some rust on the outside, and now it seems to be leaking water. I suppose that means I need a new pump? If yes, I ran a energy saver calculator, and it tells me of I switch to VS pump I would save $128 a year. That hardly seems worth it, as a VS is about...

WaterGuru Sense 2 vs. Taylor Tests

I have been using WG sense (version 1) for over 6 months, and the FC and PH have always been very accurate compared to my Taylor tests.

New to Pools. Very High CYA

WATERGURU I know it's not sanctioned on the form, but I've been using one since I joined TFP, and it has been great, and pretty accurate (I have a Taylor kit to test it's accuracy) For those interested in going that route, they have just made a new version, in which the cassets can test not...

New to Pools. Very High CYA

So I got the pvc pipes with holes, but haven't had to use it yet, as the rain and cool fron here in Florida brought my temps back down to 82. Whenever they raise, I'll let y'all know if it works to cool the pool

New to Pools. Very High CYA

So, been reading the cool your pool thread. Can someone explain me how these water spraying/mist wands work, how are they cooling the pool, and why they do not raise the PH as much as aereration would. finally can some explain if I did use one of these spray/mist wands when would the best...

New to Pools. Very High CYA

I read it, hence my question, what to do if the black algae is above the water line? So I just scrub with a trichlor puck, or should I raise my water level real high

New to Pools. Very High CYA

The last two times I lowered my pool with MA to a OH of 7.2 or 7.3 within 3 days it heads up to 7.6, and it stays at 7.6 or 7.7 for two weeks, does that mean I should only lower my PH to 7.6?

New to Pools. Very High CYA

My cleaner can scrub the walls, but I only set it for that once a week. What happens though, is even after it's been scrubbed/cleaned once the filter goes off, a few hours later it reappears Question about the hair net (which I used a few times) would it catch more pollen than the pool filter?

OCLT showed a loss of .5 soi guess it s pollen then. Still annoying, but at least I don't have to slam the pool.

New to Pools. Very High CYA

So recently there is this thin green film along some of the water line in parts of my pool when the water is off. If I got it with a brush, it mixes into the surface of the pool, and only reapers after the filter turns off. Is it algae or couldn't it be Florida pollen (my car has a green...
