    ORP and chlorine

I just kind of found this graph interesting with respect to ORP and chlorine. I don't use a SWG, I use bleach. You can see where my bleach pump cuts on and it seems to have no affect on ORP. Time of day sure does though.

Low pH - what to do?

Pool is about 3 weeks old. For the last 10 days or so I've kept the water nice and balanced. Typically FC 4-6, ph 7.5, TA 80, CH 350, CYA 50, Borates 50. The plaster company was just leaving when I pulled in today. I THINK they were here looking at parts of my plaster where they didn't do a...

CYA and FC - Just so I have it straight...

I've read and read and read through pool school and all the various posts. I just want to make sure I've got this straight. My current test results, FC 8, pH 7.7, TA 70, CH 350, CYA 35. I've got a Stenner set up for my bleach. It currently doses 77.2 oz of 10% bleach each day split over 4...

    Glacier Chiller - Installation Question

I'm considering putting a Glacier chiller on my pool. My water temp routinely hits 94 and I don't want to use the fountains that I've seen other people talk about. My question is regarding installation. I finally got my hands on the install manual. It lists instructions for existing/new pool...

How am I doing on balancing?

Finally getting things dialed in. Pool is about 8 days old. I'm having a hard time getting cya up and don't want to overshot it. My target is 40. Over the last week I've added 33 oz by volume of granular cya and PB put in a gallon of liquid conditioner. The last 16 oz I put in a sock 2 days...

    Valve Types

I did an admittedly brief search but didn't find much. My question is what type of valve is the standard Jandy diverter valve? Is it simply a ball valve just like the ball valves you can get at Lowes? The reason I ask is that my builder used what I'll call the "standard" Jandy type diverter...

    Flow Switch

I hope this hasn't been previously answered but I couldn't seem to locate anything. I plumbed in a Hayward flow switch the other day. It is a GLX-FLO. This morning while playing with my VS pump I noticed that when I turned the pump down to about 20% the flow switch indicated no flow. I can't...

    Acid and bleach injection points

I'm getting ready to plumb in a stenner pump for acid and another for bleach. Is there any guidance on how far apart the two injection points should be?

First test, new pool, just filled

7:22 am 82.7 degrees Ph >8.2 FC 0 CC .5 CH 100 TA 270-320 Ok, so I just did my first set of tests. Pool finished filling last night. My pH looked just a bit pinker than the max 8.2 on the block. I'd guess 8.3. Chlorine tests were as I expected. The CH and TA are puzzling. They seem...

As the forum says, just getting started... chemistry questions

You can see my build thread here. Today the pool is filling. I believe it will be finished sometime tomorrow. Once it is I'll take an initial test. Because of the PB I'm going to have to use his pucks on startup for warranty purposes. I figure I can go with the pucks until the CYA level is...

    Omnilogic Questions

For those who may have some insight... I sent the following questions to Hayward. I'm in the process of building a pool and have some questions about the Hayward Omnilogic as well as pumps. My builder has installed the Omnilogic. The pool is a 16x32x4 deep. It is an in ground pool/spa...

    Under Construction - Tomball, TX

Will let the pics speak. Feel free to post questions. Wife wanted "rectangular" pool instead of free form so this is what I came up with. Basically all travertine except the waterline tile which is glass and travertine. Pavers are 24x24 travertine. Didn't want coping. I liked the look of...
