    Brand New Pump Motor Seizing

I figured it out. Terrible explanation but I'll try my best- Was toying around when I first installed and knocked the metal spring piece out of whack. It would not fully extend and touch the starter switch? so it couldn't kick in to gear. Every time I manually extend that piece so it is...

    Brand New Pump Motor Seizing

Had been running fine for the past 2+ months, would act up every once in a while but nothing I couldn't manage. Now had to have it off for two days and it won't come back up. Just buzzes and overheats. Impeller seems to be spinning pretty freely. Seems a bit further back than I remember (is it...

    Brand New Pump Motor Seizing

Just replaced the UST1072 motor on my Hayward Superpump a little over a week ago with a new Century unit and it is already seizing periodically when it turns back on after being off. Happened twice so far out of ~10 times being turned off in total. Does not trip the breaker, but buzzes for a few...

    Mesh Safety Cover Advice

Like most people, I just want the best value for the money. If the Loop-Loc lasts twice as long and is much easier to use then I have no problem paying the extra. If any two of the middle options give me the same performance for a better price I am open to either of them also. If the cheaper...

    Mesh Safety Cover Advice

I've looked through a lot of the old posts on the mesh safety covers, but there has been no consensus and no feedback on the In the Swim (GLI) branded cover. Not sure what my best bet would be between the following: 1) http://www.intheswim.com/Pool-Opening-a ... Rectangle/ In the Swim (made...

Getting there!! Drained and refilled today. CYA down to 50. FC: .5 CC: less than .5 PH: 7.2 TA: 130 CH: 120 Pool Calculator says add 91 oz of 12% chlorine. Also wants me to raise PH and CH. Other than the chlorine, are either of these extremely necessary right now? Thanks!

Haha guess I'll just turn the filters off, drain from one end, and fill from the other. Oh well if I use a little more water. Thanks again fellas.

More dumb questions, but reading more I found this... If you have a SWG or very high levels of direct sunlight, CYA is typically kept between 70 and 80. If you are using an ORP controller, keep CYA below 50. My pool is uncovered in my backyard all day getting a lot of sun. Am I still better...

Do you have a link or any more specific instructions to the tarp approach? I searched and can't find anything. I assume I would just add water to the top of the tarp while I have my pump drain water from the floor drain of my pool? I really appreciate your help. Thanks a million.

Newbie - Need Help w/ Test Levels

Water looks okay to me. Maybe not crystal clear, but not visibly green or cloudy. Draining runs me into another problem though, my pool has wood walls, and the person that was maintaining it warned us not to run the water too low. Obviously every pool will be different, but any advice with...

Newbie - Need Help w/ Test Levels

Hello, I just bought a house with a pool and have a few questions. I have already read the pool school. I only have a K1004 test kit, as that is all the pool store recommended for a beginner. From looking on this site more though it seems they were wrong. First, should I go exchange this...
