    Liner storage and desiccant packs

We just store our liner on a shelf in the basement, but I bought a thing from WalMart that sounds like what you described from Lowes to put in the large bin that all of the hoses, toys, etc are stored in. It was a plastic container and I think it actually fills with water as it absorbs it. We...

Rough guess for drain time of a 16x48 Intex with one hose

Re: Rough guess for drain time of a 16x48 Intex with one hos We have the same size pool. I started ours by vacuuming to waste, then back washing and rinsing and then continued to waste until the water was down to the intake port. I started this on a Thursday night around 8pm. The rest was...

    Intex Ultra Frame Owners

That's an interesting setup. I will be interested to see how those bungees hold up, or more specifically, the white band. We can get some really strong winds here in the fall and winter months (especially if we end up with hurricanes or blizzards), so I think I would worry about those bungee...

Best time to buy a Intex 24x12 52 Agp?

According to camelcamelcamel.com, the lowest price on this was $999 back on May 7, 2013. It looks like it was around $1,028 up until Sept 6 when it went up to $1,169 and then dropped to the $1,119 it has been at for the past few days. If you're not familiar with this site, you can enter a URL...

    Rust on Frame

We have had our Ultra Frame for 2 seasons, both of which we used the saltwater generator. We never rinse the frame after use. This year after taking it down we did find some minor rust spots on the frame, mainly where the paint was scratched where the pieces meet from putting it...

Time to take down the pool--looking for tips

We just took ours down this past weekend. I started on Thursday night by vacuuming to waste to get the dirt off the bottom and start lowering the water. Then I backwashed and rinsed the sand filter good, which also took some water off. Then I let the pump run to waste until the water was down...

    16' x 48" DIY Project 24K Warning

Could you tell me more about the solar heaters you have? I want to do something for next year and I like how compact yours are. What is the difference in water temp when using them? I would also like to use the old filter pump for running one. Also more thanks to you and your wife for your...

Intex Ultra Frame in wall skimmer - keep water depth?

Thanks, Jim. The water depth you describe isn't bad, and I'm not opposed to it. I guess my main concern is having another summer like this past one as far as rain goes. I was constantly backwashing and vacuuming to waste to lower the water level and our pool was still overflowing, especially...

Intex Ultra Frame in wall skimmer - keep water depth?

sgtcampbelld - do you have pictures of how you did it? After re-reading my post I think maybe I wasn't clear enough so I'm not sure if I'm being totally understood. The skimmer wouldn't actually be attached to where the sleeve is notched on the outside, but rather sit under it, allowing for...

Intex Ultra Frame in wall skimmer - keep water depth?

So I know there are a ton of threads on this topic, but none seem to address the question I have about what I'm thinking about doing. I want to install a Hayward skimmer, however I don't really want to lose the depth of the water. I saw some threads on people installing above the weld, but I...

    Intex Ultra Frame Owners

The way I pack mine up is to drain it and clean the liner and then let it sit in the sun for a day or two to dry out. I then sprinkle baby powder all over the inside of the liner to absorb any extra moisture that might be left and to keep the vinyl from sticking. Then I take down the frame and...

    Intex Ultra Frame Owners

Ah, Cochranville. I've been through there many times! I had an old college boyfriend who lived outside of Oxford so I used to make that trip quite often back in the day. The back/side of our house also faces a field. That side of the house always gets plastered with corn husks after they...

    Intex SWG leaking

I used the Loctite stuff from home depot that is for plastics (yellowish). It was in the aisle with the caulking and other sealants. Like I said, it kind of helped a little, but it's still leaking. I don't know if I just missed where it's actually leaking from or if it's leaking under it or...

    Intex SWG leaking

I didn't have to send anything back. I didn't even know they were sending a whole new unit until it showed up. I figured they would just send a new cell/tube for it. It did take a few weeks for it to show up though. When we first got the pool and set it up it was leaking pretty bad with not...

    Intex SWG leaking

They ended up sending me a whole new unit instead of just the cell. I was quite surprised. I haven't opened it yet, though. It's not like it's leaking a massive amount, and our pool is always overflowing anyway from how wet it has been this season so I've just been letting it go since we will...

raidencmc - Where in SE PA are you? We are outside of Allentown and have the same wind problem. We're constantly chasing things around the yard that blew away and the solar cover has blown off a few times even though I try to make sure there are no air bubbles or areas that are lifted that the...

    Hayward Skimmer on Intex

Bamagram - Not sure if you are within the time frame, but the Intex SWG has a 2 year warranty. I bought mine at the start of last season and a few weeks ago I noticed leaking from the cell. The housing was all cracked around it. I placed a warranty claim and they sent me a whole new unit. So...

Is it closing time?? (for you upper midwest folks)

Another here in SE PA (Allentown area), and we will probably be packing it in soon. With the solar cover on we hit 88 degrees back in July when we had that week of really high temps, but now we're down to about 78 which is just a bit too cold for my bones. I think we will be investing in some...

    Closing and packing Ultraframe AGP

I sprinkled it everywhere that vinyl would be touching vinyl. I sprinkled the entire inside, then put the walls down, then as I folded each side over I would sprinkle some more on the outside. I probably went a bit overkill, but it's cheap and worth it to not have any sticking issues.

    Closing and packing Ultraframe AGP

I also sprinkle baby powder all over our liner before folding it up to help absorb any left over moisture we may have missed and to prevent the vinyl from sticking. I'm not sure if it's absolutely necessary, but it worked well for us so that is how I will be taking it down again this year.

Ladder Solutions for Pro Series/Intex Pools?

I looked at the roll guard ladder, but there is no doubt in my mind that my 1 1/2 and 3 1/2 year old monkeys would find a way to climb it and jump in. They can climb pretty much anything that gives them enough traction, so that's something to keep in mind. For our situation, the fold up ladder...

    Intex SWG leaking

We got our first pool (in signature) last summer and started with the SWG right away. Everything has been great until today. I got home from work and noticed a puddle of water around the SWG. We finally have some dry weather, so I found it rather odd to see water there. I wiped the whole...

    Intex 1600 High Pressure

I actually came here today looking for info on the Intex sand filter pressure gauge. Not long after getting the pump I noticed some moisture in the gauge. We've had a lot of heavy rain and super high humidity lately and now the gauge is actually filling with water and it's so foggy I can't...

need help on final decision on which intex ultra frame pool

Re: need help on final decision on which intex ultra frame p We have a 3 1/2 year old who is 43" tall (I know, she's a giant for her age). We have the 16'x48" Ultra Frame, so the water is about 42" high. She can't stand without the water going over her face. What we did is make 2 platforms...

    Pool Light and Remote Shutoff

I went z-wave for my timers. Last weekend we did some rewiring and I now have the pump and SWG controlled by z-wave. We went away for 4 days for the holiday, and my biggest concern was the power going out which would trip the pump and then coming home to a nice green pool. So we added a GFCI...

    Adding Inlets/Outlets

We made platforms for our pool so our 3 year old could stand but keep the higher water level. We made 2 of them that are 2'x2' squares, and about 10" or so high. We used PVC to make a frame and drilled holes throughout them so that they could fill with water and sink. We then took some...

    Leaking drain-new intex pool

We just had a replacement liner sent to us, not a whole new pool. That's fine though since the liner is typically what fails on these pools anyway. Glad they are picking it up free for you, but it does suck about the price difference and more waiting! The waiting is the hardest part...

    Leaking drain-new intex pool

We had the same thing happen last year when we first got ours. With only an inch or so of water in it we started seeing large puddles underneath on one side of the pool. We searched and searched and couldn't find anything so I suspected it was the seam since it seemed like too much water for a...
