    SWG Can't Keep Up

Thanks everyone and sorry for taking so long to reply, life got in the way. I do think that what is happening is that there's just too much UV and the SWG needs help. It has been very hot today. Because I'm at the limit with CYA, this weekend I will switch to liquid chlorine. Should I SLAM to...

    SWG Can't Keep Up

I'm having a strange issue. For the past few days, the SWG cannot produce enough chlorine. In the winter I ran it at 10-30% and it did just fine. I assumed that I would have to bump it up to 80% in the summer and it would be great. However, for the past few days I've had it at 100% and it cannot...

    Pump Run Time

Updating. I was out for about 2 weeks. During that time, the pool folks came by and flipped the SWC so now arrows are pointing in the right direction. Things have gotten better, but I think there is still some work to do. I can prime the pump just fine, but the basket will only fill all the...

    Pump Run Time

No worries; the thread is kind of all over the place anyway as I try to figure out what the heck is wrong with my system with the help of folks on this awesome forum. The pool guy that was sent by the pool builder to start the pool had to connect some sort of device to register it. I can't...

    Pump Run Time

Wait, are you saying the entire fitting is backwards? I thought you meant the cell that you can take out to clean, but you're referring to the entire housing?? I went out and checked and indeed, it seems to be backwards. The pipe that feeds it is coming from the heater which I believe is the...

You gave me hope, but no I checked and it is inserted correctly. The arrow in the cover matches the arrows in the body as well as arrows in inlet/outlet.

    Pump Run Time

Yes, I lubed it with silocone grease when I opened it up to clean it. I also cleaned and inspected the o-ring. Seemed OK. This is awesome. Thanks for sharing it. I agree that it sort of perpetuates the myth, but the explanations on TDH are great.

    Pump Run Time

Ok, updating. I went ahead and pulled the filters to clean them. They weren't in terrible shape: I opted for a quick hose down and they ended up like this: I did find some rust on this thing: Something interesting happened: Pressure is now up!!! You can see in previous photos that...

No, but I can clean them out today. Should I try that or would it be better to test without the filters in place? Last time I cleaned them was 3 months ago and the pool hasn't been used since.

    Pump Run Time

Thanks. Hopefully someone will know what's going on. I also thought it was odd that it would fail to stay primed. This is a new system, installed in May of 2022.

    Pump Run Time

Ok, updating, I left for an hour and set the pump to 2,400 RPM. When I came back, the water level in the pump had gone down about an inch. Here's some video: Here's a picture of the equipment. I can take more angles, just let me know what you want to see: The pad is more or less level with...

It's about half way up. I don't have a weir door though. When I look into the skimmer I see some water movement, but it is by no means a whirlpool.

    Pump Run Time

I'm using the TF-Pro to test regularly. Love that kit. In addition I use a Taylor salt test every once in a while as well. Thanks for your answers. I could live with $12 a month to run the pump quite frankly and I wouldn't care. The problem is that right now I'm paying $75 :D I did some...

    Pump Run Time

Thanks guys. I really appreciate your input as always. I did a brief observation monitoring watt usage with iAcqualink at different RPMs and then converting to cost. Check it out: My goal is to run this pump when my solar panels are generating power and electricity rate is lowest...

    Pump Run Time

I've heard that the entre water of the pool needs to go through the filter once per day. Typically, that means the pump has to run about 8 hours. I've been looking at the equipment that was installed here to see if I can save some money. It turns out I have a Jandy VSSHP270DV2A pump which is in...

TFP Method Questions and other pool oddities

@ajw22 Thanks for the detailed post. It was super useful. I opened up the panel and changed the position of the switch, but it didn't do anything. I didn't see any valves changing position and the spillover was still on.

TFP Method Questions and other pool oddities

Thanks guys. Promise I will reply to the posts above tonight. Doing pool maintenance right now and CYA is now back down to 60 from 90, which I don't really understand how. I measured it 5 times to make sure I was reading this accurately. This means my reading of 90 a couple of days ago was...

TFP Method Questions and other pool oddities

    1. It was liquid stabilizer. I added 32 oz first to be on the conservative side. I then measured again a couple of days later and it was still at 60. Me trying to be conservative, I then added 16 oz more to not overshoot, but I definitely went above what I needed. I will measure again today to...

TFP Method Questions and other pool oddities

I've been working almost daily on my pool to try to get it within TFP's recommended parameters. My log is here: PoolMath Logs As I continue to work on this, I did have a few questions: 1) As you can see, CYA was at 5-60. I added 32 oz of stabilizer, waited a couple of days, and it didn't do...
