    water feature stains

Thanks @mknauss - I'm still working with the remodeler as we have not finished paying. Tossed this Q out to the TFP community for ideas. I'll bring this up with them and see what they say. I just can't believe it would happen this bad after just a couple of days. Looks like I'm going to be...

    water feature stains

We do have a soft water system to all but the front bib. This is the ONLY bib used to fill the pool from initial fill after the remodel a few days ago - was told by the remodeler not to use soft and we did not. They installed the filler yesterday, and it is on soft and they said that was fine. I...

    Popup troubles

Well, there's no happy ending here yet, turns out there is algae in the popups (and i'm sure in the pipes because they have not been used for so long. @Jace4fla - i turned the valve to wall returns and removed the handle when we first got the hayward - guess i should have had it just a bit open...

    Popup troubles

So my pool is quite old (26 yr) and the pop-up system never worked well, we were always taking apart the clocking mechanism (round thing with balls and gears), and still had to vacuum all the time. So we got a hayward ultravac about 12 years ago and never looked back. There is no dedicated port...

Hi everyone and help please! Pool in Las Vegas. Where do I start with these results?

Picture 3 looks like the valving for your pop-up cleaning system. it rotates a disk that lifts a ball one (or more) at a time in a circle to indicate which popup(s) are active for a period of time. Lots of fun to work on /s. I cut mine out and bought an ultravac.

    pool motor acting up

They didn't say anything about a surge protector. Why would you need one for a vs pump versus a ss pump? what happened to yours borjis?

    pool motor acting up

So went to price out a motor and seal kit and impeller. over 400. i know i could save at least a third if i price it out and have it shipped, but instead, i went for a Pentair 011018 - Intelliflo VS Pump with Timer. all told, after install was $1200. 15% off, 15% off installation, $50 rebate...

    pool motor acting up

So you guys were right again, for the most part. The impeller didn't exactly fall off, the motor shaft is completely broken. Every seal is trashed, and there is a hunk of shaft left in the impeller. Thanks for the suggestions! Guess I'm gonna price out a new motor, impeller, and a full seal...

    pool motor acting up

@pabeader @borjis I can't see the impeller from the basket area, nor can i reach it with fingers to feel it. Even if it did become separated - would that explain the long wind-down of the motor? I guess I'll just have to take the whole thing apart and see if something is obviously broken. If...

    pool motor acting up

pressure is 0 - normally about 16. when something was stuck in the past, the pump is much louder, and sucking a bit of air. not louder today, and not sucking any air. what worries me is the motor winding down when the pump is shut off - that's not right. i believe the motor is busted - just...

    pool motor acting up

Hello, so I have this Emerson ESQ1102 Square Flange Pool and Spa Motor 1 HP. its quite a few years old. I replaced the bearings on it about 4 years ago. It has been working fine since. nice and quiet. This morning, the water in the pool was barely moving, but the pump/motor was on and sounded...

    Pool in the Bahamas

What about this? http://www.amazon.com/Orbit-Arizona-101 ... B003OWLK5U I have used it with my misting system for years - really seems to help. Not sure about the flow rate, or filtering capacity though. You may need a bunch of them, dunno.

Need help with cleaning small bugs and stuff

I have to plug my pool cleaner into my skimmer because i don't have a dedicated line. Because of this, my skimmer doesn't work very well at all. I got one of these to clean the surface: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004VL ... UTF8&psc=1 One of the best things i ever got for my pool!

New pool owner. Am I planning my pool strategy right?

Just curious here - how come nobody suggested draining to get that CYA down to 40 or 50? Would make shocking and future maintenance cheaper and easier, wouldn't it?

    PH Testing question

Maybe try adding an extra drop of reagent? http://www.troublefreepool.com/extended-test-kit-directions-t25081.html "Some people find that adding an extra drop of reagent, or adjusting the color with either the acid demand or base demand reagents, helps them determine the color more precisely."

Newbie question about old pool equipment: Skimmer attachment

Re: Newbie question about old pool equipment: Skimmer attach I have one of these and I agree with Jason. You are probably sucking some water from the main drain instead of the cleaner - Path of Least Resistance. I get no skimming power either and my main drain IS plugged. I've been looking...

Fix Intermatic timer or must I replace it?

I don't know anything about those. Is there a way to tell? Is there a way to fix/prevent them from sticking? What do they look like? Thanks Bama!

That's just it though - the OFF dog threw the on/off switch all the way to off, yet the motor was still running.

Fix Intermatic timer or must I replace it?

I noticed the other day that my pump was still running a couple hours after the shut-off time. This is the second or third time this has happened over the last couple months (that I have noticed). I went out to inspect my settings and found that the dog had actually tripped the switch all the...
