    Pool Leak?

I have a bottle of fix-a-leak waiting to be used (probably next weekend). I isolated my leak to the spa return which is under poured concrete decking. You have to bypass the filter media. I have a cartridge filter, but my bottle says to set your sand filter to recirculate. If you have a...

    Robotic pool cleaner reviews

Not robotic... but had a Hayward navigator, replaced it with Poolvergnuegen (The Pool Cleaner). You should find a bunch of reviews of it here, I think it is the favorite, it's definitely mine. If you do choose it, don't get the the 4 wheel, it doesn't climb walls as well as the two wheel...

Solar Leaks + "Fix A Leak"?

I just bought some "Fix A Leak" for my pool. I also have a solar leak that I've been putting off (not the same leak, the solar is minor). Then I put 2&2 together. So... anyone know if running fix a leak through solar would be dangerous? I have Fafco panels, the tubes are .25in diameter...

Poolvergnuegen, pool cleaner, 2 wheell or 4 wheel?

Get the 2 wheel, you can buy extra hose (I think I got my extra hose at Leslies). If you buy the four wheel, then you'll need to replace four rubber tire thingies instead of two. Best pool cleaner ever!

    Solar powered pool pumps?

Put it on your whole house. You'd probably put the same amount of wattage on your roof anyway. And you can run your pumps at night if you ever need to. Plus you can run your meter backwards when the pump(s) aren't on, and offset other load.

Neighbor's house foreclosure -- pool needs bleach

The tone of your messages sound like you might be concerned about the pool somehow being permanently damaged. If so, don't worry, it won't. It's completely recoverable. See if you can make sure the pumps won't run as soon as the power comes back on.

    Jandy AquaLink PDA

mcoccia - does the iAqualink interface allow for Intelliflo control like the PDA? After what you've said, I'm thinking about upgrading from my old lcd display. Also, while researching today, it seems as if the iAqualink is flashed for RS8 by default. Do you know much about this? If so I have...

    Jandy AquaLink PDA

Jandy doesn't know how to switch between the different speeds on the Intelliflo. So you'll need to connect the intellicom unit to multiple switches. If all of your switches are needed for lighting and other features, you will have a problem. Also, there might also be a problem with the SWG. I...

If you're going to put wifi on the device, you're going to be making the data available over tcp/ip, right? If so, you're going to either use raw sockets with some binary messaging, or you'll put an mini web server and publish some sort of "web service". Will you publish the data format so...

Thinking of an SWCG, but which one?

Your primary concern should be pump run time. The electrical cost of that most likely outweighs anything else: You don't want a cell that forces you to run your pumps longer than needed. However, suppose you already run your pumps 24/7. In that case a bigger cell allows you to run at a lower...

    Any regrets?

IMHO, a swg pool is orders of magnitude easier to maintain than anything else. Cells are expensive but I'm going to guess they more than pay for themselves over time. If you take the plunge, I recommend over-sizing so you won't have run your pumps longer than necessary. My cell is rated for...

That looks great! My takeaways: 1. It is okay to only partially drain the pool. I was worried that I was fooling myself thinking that could be done. 2. Use weed spraying bottles! Much better than hand pump. BTW - I was considering a lighter color too. My pool is saltwater and has...
