Thanks, Jason. If PH is still low tomorrow, I will add the borax. Hoping I can handle the rest on my own. jblizzle...using BBB method, although til now havn't had to use Soda or Borax, only liquid chlorine (household).

Getting pool from "Swamp to Oasis". Going well...nice very cloudy light aqua color now. :mrgreen: I have a question about a couple of my levels. I started PH a little low (7.2) because it may go up. After 2 days, it has dropped to 7.0. :( Have no Borate tester, so I'm in the dark on that...

Thanks, Duraleigh. I did vac before I started, but just couldn't get it all. Now, it's just the algae on the bottom and along the bottom edge of the sides, but there's loads of it. I despise vacuuming when I don't have a crystal clear view!!

OK...hopefully I will be able to see a little in the pool tomorrow or Thursday. I'm thinking I may need to vac soon. When I vac, I vac to waste, so when I return new water to the pool, the levels will be messed up again. My Q is: When should I vac? Should I wait until I do the overnight algae...

I tried finding it with the net and the vacuum (turned off of course) and no luck. Oh great. This just stinks. I mean really...how far could it have gone? lol Thinking about gettin in there and searching with my feet...but GROSS!!!!

I had put my stabilizer in a sock to hang in front of the intake (trying to get "swamp to oasis"), and it fell off into the green swamp. Can''t find it cause I can't see! Will the stabilizer hurt my vinyl lining?

Here are my test results : PH: 7.2 CYA: 0 FC: 0 So...I can leave my PH since I should start a little low, raise my CYA to at least 30, and of course shock the heck outta it with chlorine using the "Swamp to Oasis" shock method. AM I CORRECT? :?: :?: :?:

Thanks again, guys! So what I'm hearing is: Have PH set before shock and level up CYA while shocking. Yay...hopefully get started as soon as I get the PH set. Being new (but very green and alive...lol) county water, that shouldn't be too hard. Can't put the CYA sock in my skimmer as it will...

Will it hurt anything to run the pump 24/7? We have always run ours that way. I live in the south and it gets HOT AND HUMID HERE! And we tend to have algae probs as well.
