My Husband is Angry at Me...........

Well the Intex is going to come down. LOL. The Cornelius will probably be sold and the Doughboy will be the winner. Although three pools might be a great idea. Every child except one would have their own swimming pool. LOL.

My Husband is Angry at Me...........

We are now the proud owner of 3 above ground pools. LOL. I found a 28' Doughboy today on Craigslist for $300 bucks. Lady came down to $100. It's the Silver Lake Pool, so I think I got a good deal. Everything seems to be in place and in good shape. :)

    Morgan Pools.............

I'm hoping someone will know this. We found a used Morgan Pool in incredible shape and know when we set it up we'll need to purchase a new liner. Does anyone know what type of liner they take?

Winterizing Intex 24' AGP - Two Questions

My pool doesn't complete freeze solid but it does freeze up to a foot in depth. We are in the very north part of Texas, near ski areas etc. We have has winters where we get 22" of snow in one night, etc. And in the winter we often have several weeks of cold weather at a time with temps in the...

Winterizing Intex 24' AGP - Two Questions

Scott, I never put anything over the holes. Sure some dirt and leaves might have gotten in there but very little.

    Which is better?

We are getting a new (to us) above ground pool next month. It's a 15x33 oval with 54" height. Should I stick with chlorine and use the liquidator or should I purchase a SWCG? What size of each would you recommend?

Not sure what I have - algae?

Please don't use powdered shock. It will add CYA to your pool which will require a higher chlorine demand and make battling algae almost impossible. Instead read pool school about shocking your pool. Clorox will become your best friend.

    Question about AG Pool...bowing sides

My husband and I are looking at purchasing a 15x33 Aqua Leader Pool. The pool looks like it's in great shape, but some of the sides appear to be bowing out. Is this normal? Is it something we should be concerned about? When we reinstall this in our yard, will the walls straighten out...

    Question about Polyquat 60

I may have this all screwed up. I've been shocking my pool for the last 24 hours. No problem holding chlorine. I added the recommended dosage of polyquat 60 for winterizing my pool last night after dark. This morning I woke up and I failed the OCLT. Do I need to start the shocking process...

Lil Shark for Intex 2000GPH Krystal Clear pump?

I think it works a lot better than hand vacuuming. I have problems with it getting stuck in the same area, but I just go out and "adjust" it every once in a while. I was going to buy a robot this summer at the end of the season, but I haven't gotten around to it. We are looking at a larger...

Lil Shark for Intex 2000GPH Krystal Clear pump?

I believe I had the 1500. No SWCG. It wouldn't even budge with that. If you lived around here I'd let you try it out before you bought it. He ended up buying two vacs and neither worked with his Intex Sand Filter/Pump either.

Lil Shark for Intex 2000GPH Krystal Clear pump?

To be honest I don't even remember. My friend had the small Intex sand filter and couldn't get it to run off of his also.

Lil Shark for Intex 2000GPH Krystal Clear pump?

My Lil Shark wouldn't work with the stock intex filter. I have a 1 1/2 hp pump and it moves quite rapidly.

Are you leaving your pool up year around?

I've left mine up year round since we owned and plan on continuing to do so. I do all the preclosing activities and cover it and then open it in the spring when it's warm enough to put my fingers in the water.

Using bleach for other water purfication purposes

My understanding is that most residential dishwashers don't actually get hot enough to kill germs and so most dishwasher detergents add bleach to make sure they do an effective job.

Using bleach for other water purfication purposes

It was my understanding that most dishwasher detergents contained bleach anyway.

I don't see why not. I have used bleach in my dish water before.

    oops to my lawn

I backwash into my yard all the time. It doesn't seem to phase it in the least. In fact those areas are often greener than others.

Question about Hayward Skimmer in Intex pool

You should be able to buy a replacement intex skimmer at big lots.

    Pulling the plug

If you're going to drain it, I'd leave it drained. Then start over fresh in the spring. Otherwise I'm sure you'll have an algae outbreak with no chemicals in it all winter.

    Solar cover time frame

I wouldn't suggest using your solar cover all winter though. I left mine on last winter (so much was going on and I didn't get the pool closed properly) and it disintegrated. It was fun getting rid of all the little blue dots when I opened.

    Bleach shortage?

I bought out our local grocery stores last bottles of 6%. They're doing store resets to put in the new concentrated bleach and I don't think they predicted such high demand, so that's why there is a shortage right now.

Closing Intex Pool for the Winter

I don't have an easy set. I have the regular intex. I think with an easy set your best bet is to drain it.

    So probably the dumbest question......

I know that low PH (below 7.2) is hard on the eyes, etc. What are the drawbacks of high PH?

Anyone with any experience of the SMART pool shock at home d

Re: Anyone with any experience of the SMART pool shock at ho I used the smart shock at the beginning of the summer when I first opened and it was on clearance. I paid like $1.50 per bottle. It worked fine but I don't think it was 10% strength still.
