No flow light on Aquarite after replacing single speed pump motor for two speeds

The returns water flow is the same when the pump is running on high, on low there is flow, but less which I guess is expected. I did not touch the SWG flow switch at all. Wires do not have any visible breaks. I do not own an ohm meter, but can get one if necessary. Not sure if this makes any...

Right switch to wire a two speed pump

Hello, I am replacing my 1HP MaxFlo pump motor with a two speed motor (STS1072RV1) and I need help to choose the correct switch to switch between low and high speed. I already have an intermatic T104m timer to turn it on and off. I know I can get a t106m timer to select the 2 speeds, but since...

Replacing Max Flo 1 HP single speed motor with a 2 speed motor

The pump is the regular MaxFlo (SP2807X10), which Century Motor do you recommend? Will I need to change the impeller as well if I change the motor for a 2 speed? On a completely different topic, funny enough I just go back from Home Depot were I bought all the parts to assemble the DIY Acid...

Replacing Max Flo 1 HP single speed motor with a 2 speed motor

Hello, I am planning to replace the single speed 1 HP motor on my MaxFlo pool pump for two speed motor. I do not want to change the whole pump. Instead I want to keep the MaxFlo housing and put a new motor on it. 1) What motors do you recommend? I am basically looking to reduce the cost of...

2 speed vs. variable speed pump

My cost per KW is 11 cents. How can I calculate how much I am spending per day today and estimate how much will I spend with the 2 speed pump? I just want to understand the monthly savings so I can calculate the payback period. Thanks

2 speed vs. variable speed pump

Hi, I am looking to replace my single speed pump with either a 2 speed pump or a variable speed pump to reduce energy costs. Is the extra cost of the variable speed worth it? How much will I save with either of these options vs my current pump? Currently I run my 1 hp single speed hayward max...

Pump won't start breaker trips every time I turn it on

I was able to fix the issue. I took the motor apart and after safely shorting (discharging) the capacitor, used a blow dyer to dry it out. It was a little humid, but not wet. Put it back together and voilà it started working and has been running since. Let's see how long before I have to replace...

Pump won't start breaker trips every time I turn it on

Hello, The breaker for my pool keeps tripping when I try to turn it on. I cannot get it started. It has happened in the past, but I would just turn off the breaker and the back on and it would work. Last week, this happened and I was not able to turn it on for days until one day it just worked...

Salt level reading Taylor Kit vs Generator Reading

Hello, I am getting a discrepancy between the level I get when I test the salt level with the Taylor Kit and what the generator marks. The aqua rite read 3100 ppm and when tested using the Taylor Kit got 2400 ppm, I then added a bag of salt and aqua rite reads 3400 ppm and Taylor Kit 2800 ppm...

New heat pump. How much and which one is best?

Hello, I am looking to put a heat pump on our pool, so we can use it all year around. I live in Florida (zip 33024) and even though the weather is nice outside the pool can be a little cool, specially for my wife. My pool is rectangular (10,000 gallons) and do not have a cover. Would prefer...

    PH Rising too fast

Will it be ok to drop the PH to 7.0 and wait until it gets to 7.8 to drop it back to 7.0? I am not sure if a PH of 7.0 is harmful for the pool. I know that below 7.2 tend to make eyes sting, but I can time it so it is not below 7.2 on the weekend when we usually use the pool.

    PH Rising too fast

Dave thanks for the quick reply. TA is lowering but not every time I put acid. It was around 90 and it is now 70. I am planning to raise it to 80 when it gets to 60. Will raising CYA to 80, 90, or 100 help reducing the PH rate of increase? Also I have a couple of sprinklers next to the pool...

    PH Rising too fast

Hi there, I have a 10080 gallons plaster pool with SWG that was built 4 months ago. I have read that new plaster pools have high acid demand, but mine seems too high. I lower the PH to 7.4 and on day 2 is 7.6 and on day 3 is 8. I lowered it to 7.0 on a Monday and checked it in on Friday and it...
