Replace Hayward Star Clear C3000 with CJ-150 and Pre-Filter?

So, I already use skimmer basket nets, it's kind of a maintenance pain though because they get clogged and need replacing constantly (I know this is the idea so you aren't cleaning the main filter but it's still a constant chore and material expense). Do either of you have experience with the...

Replace Hayward Star Clear C3000 with CJ-150 and Pre-Filter?

We purchased a home with a 20k gallon pool and the Hayward Star Clear C3000 filter that I assume to be original to the pool in 1995 or 1996. I ended up doing a lot of maintenance to the filter last year including sourcing a discontinued outlet fitting used, the filter base, new seals and new...

    CSI too low for plaster?

Sorry, CH is 240. I don't believe my hose water for fill is very hard, my TDS in my tap is about 40 (very good water here). Very little rain in Northern California lately (drought).

    CSI too low for plaster?

Still battling the new to me old plaster pool at the home we purchased. My PH is ultra consistent, doesn't drift, stays rock solid at 7.6 (water temp is still about 57F). My alkalinity is 50, also very solid. My Csi is -.52 currently and has been low since we moved in January 2022. I'm...

New to Me Pool, Filter Fitting Leaks!

I pulled the outlet fitting, found it to be cracked at the threads which is allowing the o-ring to pull away from the body and leak. Unfortunately basically all the parts for the C3000 filter are no longer made. I found a used outlet bulkhead fitting and I figured I would try to replace some...

New to Me Pool, Filter Fitting Leaks!

With all the unexpected expenses we've incurred with this home, we may have to limp this filter a bit longer but after pulling it apart and seeing all the JB weld on the internals, I'm sure you are correct. I saw a YouTube video of a pool guy lamenting the Hayward filters for the bulkhead...

New to Me Pool, Filter Fitting Leaks!

Possibly, I have to find my channel locks that are large enough to unscrew the fitting. Have to see if it's cracked or just needs an o-ring. The way it's now separating from the filter body under pressure, I think it's cracked. Pool may be down for a while. 😕

New to Me Pool, Filter Fitting Leaks!

Ok, so you were right, the o-ring was completely destroyed, 1/4 inch section was rolled over the edge. That said, things have gone from bad to worse. I replaced the o-ring and now the DEX360F bulkhead fitting is leaking at the housing. Is there an o-ring on the inside of the bulkhead too? Do...

New to Me Pool, Filter Fitting Leaks!

Appreciate the link! I was reading it earlier and am confident to try the marine epoxy for now since I'm not ready to drop the coin for the SWG just yet. I am curious about your comments about rotating the filter, wouldn't that create the need for more 90* bends and more complicated plumbing...

New to Me Pool, Filter Fitting Leaks!

Hope this photo helps. Looks to be a Hayward C-3000 filter. It looks like this is the coupler I may need? Hayward Connector, slip 1 1/2in Skt X 2in (sx240f) - INYOPools.com

New to Me Pool, Filter Fitting Leaks!

Appreciate the response. The water appears to originate from the white coupler where it meets the black ABS and not from the union collar. Doesn't seem likely that the o-ring could make any difference? Seems like it wasn't properly glued but I'm not quite sure how that fitting started. I've seen...

New to Me Pool, Filter Fitting Leaks!

Installed a AG pool last year and learned a ton here. Just moved to a new home with an IG pool that was installed many years ago and I've got a mess of problems to fix, first up is the pool equipment plumbing, namely a leak at the filter fitting shown by the red arrow in the photo. There have...

Intex SWG - Dreaded 91 Low Salt Code

I think that was on the older Intex units? Side doesn't look like copper on mine. Also, I got the titanium cell replacement, installed and zero issues with low salt error. I'm getting 10.2v across it measured the same way. So less volts than the old one? 🤔

I tried this, it still caused a low salt code.

Intex SWG - Dreaded 91 Low Salt Code

Thank you both for the replies. I've seen both your threads and @Backyard Dreams in NYC , I previously replied to your thread being that it was so close to my experience (degradation of the cell causing an outbreak in the water). If the ECO cell isn't involved with chlorination then I guess I...

Obtaining & maintaining adequate FC w Intex ECO 5110, please help

My water was pretty clear too but my FC would plummet within hours of adding bleach. You can read my thread if you're interested. Again, similar scenario to yours. Even after the water felt clear my FC was disappearing so I just tried to keep with the SLAM efforts. I think in your case I...

Obtaining & maintaining adequate FC w Intex ECO 5110, please help

Just wanted to say I have the same SWG and finished my first SLAM under similar circumstances. 4 gallons of 10% bleach and about 5 days later I have sparkling water again so stay with it. You can fix it. It will work.

Intex SWG - Dreaded 91 Low Salt Code

My Intex ECO5110/26667EG (up to 7000g) SWG has been installed for about 3-4 months. It's undersized for my pool but was doing the job fine at 6-8 hours a day runtime keeping my pool crystal clear until it wasn't and I dealt with my first SLAM using 4 gallons of bleach from cloudy water (assume...

    FAS-DPD Delayed Pink Results

Thanks for the help @Texas Splash , I came out the other side after 4 gallons of 10% bleach and panic haha. My water is crystal clear again. My FC is usually 1-1.5ppm in the morning now and I am adding bleach to reach 3ppm until I figure out why my SWG isn't working. Based on the sequence of...

    FAS-DPD Delayed Pink Results

Here are some pics, I just noticed the corrugated hose has visible "something". It's honestly tough to know if this isn't just dirt blowing in? I'm going to run out of FAS-DPD test reagents soon trying to keep this up. Forgot to mention too, the reversed plug on the SWG was short lived, today...

    FAS-DPD Delayed Pink Results

Not on well water and my city water here is actually very good with TDS around 40ppm (I was a bit of a water geek before new pool ownership, I have a reverse osmosis water filtration system for drinking water and brewing). As for the brown, it's hard to describe. As I said, you can barely even...

    FAS-DPD Delayed Pink Results

Checked the water at 6am today, 10.5 FC and still brown/gray algae on the walls (barely noticeable btw, never has been noticeable until you brush the walls and a brown cloud appears in the water. Water has never been green or anything, just cloudy was the worst it got. It's crystal clear still...

    FAS-DPD Delayed Pink Results

FC ended at 5ppm when I tested at sunset. Added 82oz liquid chlorine to SLAM to 16, tested at 22. Bit higher than I was expecting but ok? Water looks crystal clear. Still sweating the SWG...I flipped the polarity on the titanium (triple plate) plug and it runs without the 91 Low Salt alarm. I...

    FAS-DPD Delayed Pink Results

Direct sun basically all day with ambient temps over 90-100F for weeks on end? That's why I'm wondering if I need more CYA (after SLAM obviously). SWG worked without low salt error before attempting to clean as directed in manual with vinegar yesterday. I only cleaned wondering if the output...

    FAS-DPD Delayed Pink Results

Update, I just tested FC now after adding chlorine early this morning at 7am and my FC is 9.5 so it's not THAT high given it should have started at 17. Drop almost half within 6.5 hours? Still worried about the SWG, I overpaid for it because nothing was in stock originally. :(
