    Bleach Prices 2012

What about calling a pool install place? I know that one of the local pool install places near me has 5 gallon pails of 12.5% for $18.

Which direction return jets should be pointed

My pool is a 19x37 rectangle with 4 total returns. 2 of the returns are aerators (I believe that this what they are called) by the steps and then there is 1 return in the shallow end and 1 return in the deep end (across from the skimmer). I also have a main drain.

    Chlorinator questions...

Yes, this is correct. I did a ton of research on the tablet/CYA issues. It seems that in areas where a pool is open all year have the worst of the CYA problems. However, in areas of short swim seasons, we simply don't see this issue*. 5 of my close neighbors have pools and 4 of them (5 if you...

Which direction return jets should be pointed

Split into a new topic, off topic for the original location. JasonLion I know I'm reviving an old thread but I thought it was a good point to ask which direction return jets should be pointed? For years, my jets have always been pointed down but recently a neighbor who just had a pool installed...

18 years of Baqua..UPDATE! Swapped 8/15 NOW WITH PHOTOS!

Re: 18 years of Baqua..UPDATE! Swapped 8/15 NOW WITH PHOTOS These strips are comical. I just finished my conversion and happened to find a container of these and I too decided to see what they would read. First strip, no Baqua detected. Great! Lets try a second strip, this one (test in a...

    Choosing an Automatic Chlorinator

I know I'm several years behind and reviving an aging thread but I thought I would add to the bleach on clothes issue. For me, I look at it as the same a paint shirt. Don't think of bleached clothes as ruined, but rather your bleaching clothes. Always where the same clothes specifically for...

    Tme to Change to salt..

As I continue to dig and do some more research, I think the LQ is the best option for me. I know there were some issues with White Stuff (calcium) gunking up but this seemed to affect mainly gunite pools. I have a liner and the pool is only open for 4 months. So a lot of these issues, don't...

    Just ordered a Liquidator

Cost wise this isn't actually too bad. In general, with the 8 gallon Liquidator can hold ~10 96 ounce bleach bottles. Hasa's website says that will last me 1 month. So at $2 a bottle, that equates to $20 a month. 4 month season = $80. Plus a few other chemicals and I should be under $125 a...

    Just ordered a Liquidator

So maybe I'll just go with a Liquidator versus the tablet chlorinator. decisions decisions decisions. What bleach is best to add - 6%, 10%, or 12%? Is using a Liquidator a more costly way to maintain a pool?

    Tme to Change to salt..

Very good point and I guess my view is going to be much different because our Northeast season is so much shorter (do you even winterize in Texas)? For 4 months a season, I think a Liquidator at ~$160 is a good investment for me. Luckily, where all my equipment is outside and near a fence gate...

    Just ordered a Liquidator

Any issues with the PH rising? I have heard that Liquidators can cause a high PH level. Since my entire system is outside, ventilation is not a problem. I think that this year (since I'm switching from Baquacil), I will manually chlorinated using Tri-Chlor granulars. Once I get my water where I...

    Tme to Change to salt..

I wish these were just a little cheaper. Right now the RJ45 is a good deal (with the free upgrade) at $749. BUT I think the ROI is still very questionable. The 7-year warranty is certainly better than any other competitor but I priced it out and the salt generator needs to last 5 years before a...

    Rainbow 300-29x

Seeing how this will be my first year on chlorine (switching from Baquacil at ~25 years - which I still love except for the high cost) I will chlorinate manually. Also, I just invested in a Dolphin robot so I really have no reason to invest more money than necessary. THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP!

    Just ordered a Liquidator

bibeaud, How you liking the LQ? Any issues to report? I really want to get an "automated" system this seasonal. I'm against salt for numerous reasons including questionable ROI and I was going to go with a tablet feeder but multiple people on this forum warn about high CYA levels. This only...

    Rainbow 300-29x

Great, now I'm even more confused than even. Actually, I think this cleared up a lot. There is no one shoe fits all with pools. Each pool is different based on size, filtration method and environment (climate, tree density or direct sunlight levels). What this tells me is that I should hold off...

    Rainbow 300-29x

Adding to my confusion are web pages such as http://www.poolmanual.com/manual/chlorine.html. Which seem to suggest that Tablets are in fact the best method for chlorinating a pool.

    Rainbow 300-29x

Can you give me an idea what you mean by "That tends to get them into trouble." Two questions (assuming SWG is out of the question): Would you recommend that I go with the Liquidator system? When you say less than $10 a month for chlorine, are you talking about grocery store bleach or a higher...

    Rainbow 300-29x

In my opinion, salt systems are way overpriced (the ROI is questionable) and I talked to a friend who owns a pool with a tablet chlorinator and he said there are too many negatives of long term liquid chlorine use. He mentioned how liquid can raise the PH and then it requires additional...

    Rainbow 300-29x

Has anyone had any experience with the Rainbow 300-29x model? I'm thinking about getting an off-line chlorinator and the price difference between the 300 and this model are not much. I like the larger canister and the engineering of the 300-29x (water exits on the top). Is there a such thing as...
