Using an inner tube or exercise ball instead of a pool pillow

Ok, great. We usually tether the pool pillow on two sides of the pool but we’re going to try 4 sides this year because the same thing happens to us. Ty for your input.

Exercise ball instead of Air Pillow????

Yes! That’s great! We plan to tie ours together too. Do the inner tubes lose air over the winter?

Using an inner tube or exercise ball instead of a pool pillow

I’ve heard that it’s not a good idea to use something other than a pool pillow under your cover when winterizing the pool. I’ve read that there are pro-pool pillow people and those who don’t use them at all. We live in NJ and I strongly feel that we hav to put something under the cover, but I’m...

Exercise ball instead of Air Pillow????

Hi Briant2468 - I’m curious how your inner tube worked out with your pool cover? We are going to try putting two large pool pillows in the center of our pool and then add a pool inner tube and top it off with an exercise ball. Sounds ridiculous, or genius….only time will tell. I swore I wouldn’t...

Raypak 106 Analog Heater - will not start

HI @Poolbreh - I 100% agree with you; that's what our plumber son told my husband. It won't ignite and we've walked through every step imaginable. My husband has taken it apart and checked everything while I've research what i could online. It's analog and while we never got any reading in the...

Raypak 106 Analog Heater - will not start

Thank you @Farmer7185 - I appreciate the advice. Sadly, after further testing I don't think our issue is related to the cut-off fuse or the transformer. That's awesome that you were able to get it fixed w/a cheap part though. We've been doing a lot of testing and after banging the gas valve (our...

Raypak 106 Analog Heater - will not start

Hi @Farmer7185 - I am having issues with my Raypak 106A - the pilot won't start & we have checked/tested everything. I'm wondering if the transformer you ordered worked and resolved the problem for you. And if so, where did you order it from? I see several online and with various prices. Thanks

    Raypak P-106A-AN-C

I purchased this above ground pool/spa heater approximately 15 months ago. The installation was straight forward and there were no issues. The unit worked great last year and helped to maintain a comfortable temperature during the early spring and later toward fall as the outside temps dropped...

How to best remove white/gray residue particles at bottom of pool

Ok thank you. I appreciate all the information and advice. I just found the write up for closing an above ground pool and see about the water temp which I didn't think about before. Re our equipment, that's my boyfriends department. He works with very large tanks and pumps for living so that...

How to best remove white/gray residue particles at bottom of pool

Yes, there is no longer any residue. We vacuumed it all out and we cleaned the filter. The chlorine ball we used last year was called an Aquapill Winterpill. A few weeks ago I purchased a "winterizing chemical kit" from the pool store assuming it had the winterpill in it again but I just...

How to best remove white/gray residue particles at bottom of pool

Good Morning Dave. I completed the SLAM process. CC is 0 and I passed the OCLT test. My FC held pretty steady yesterday within a 1ppm range and my current reading is: FC: 11 CC: 0 CYA: 46 pH: 7.8 TA: 100 The only thing I overlooked was not letting the water come to room temperature before doing...

How to best remove white/gray residue particles at bottom of pool

Oh, yes! I took one earlier but forgot to include it. You can somewhat make out the very light gray/white residue that is laying in the wrinkles of the liner.

How to best remove white/gray residue particles at bottom of pool

Ok, I get it. If I add the 6-8ppm of FC tonight how long should i run the pump? Could I theoretically add the CYA tonight, as well? I have liquid conditioner I can put in. Without rehashing the long story that led to where I am now, my SWG t-cell was not generating chlorine so I contacted...

How to best remove white/gray residue particles at bottom of pool

Hi Dave - I purchased a case of 4 - 128oz containers of liquid chlorine w/10% concentration. I'm confused what you meant by the 6-8 ppm. What did you mean? Using the Pool Math calculations, it looks like I need to add 29oz to raise it from 0 to 3. I plan to add the chlorine this evening. I read...

How to best remove white/gray residue particles at bottom of pool

I read the ABC's of Pool Water Chemistry; I actually printed it out, highlighted sections and put it in a binder to keep with my log. I wasnt sure about putting bleach or liquid chlorine in instead of salt. I have a taylor k-2006 FAS-DPD & taylor k-1766.

How to best remove white/gray residue particles at bottom of pool

I did my first official at home test (whohoo!). Sadly, and no suprise, the results were not great: FC: 0 CC: 2 pH: 8 TA: 90 CH: 200 CYA: 0 Can you give me some direction on what is best to add and in what order? Thank you again.

How to best remove white/gray residue particles at bottom of pool

I understand. I read through the SLAM process but in the details, it references it’s effective when CYA is around 30 to 40. What if you have a much lower amount? I’m waiting on my test kit to arrive; the separate sodium chloride kit came and my level is 2400. For hypothetical purposes (until I...

How to best remove white/gray residue particles at bottom of pool

I don't have a green pool though. Our pool is crystal clear. It just has the sediment at the bottom - and now a few leaves. We are trying to close it and I will definitely make sure that the issues are resolved beforehand. You mentioned earlier that I didn't need to add the Alkalinity, pH and CH...

How to best remove white/gray residue particles at bottom of pool

Ok. Thank you for all the information and advice. I appreciate it. I am going to buy a test kit and test the salinity myself before doing anything else. If it reads high, I'll calculate the appropriate amount of water that I need to remove from the pool to get it back to a good range. Then I'll...

How to best remove white/gray residue particles at bottom of pool

So now looking back, I think that although I had a lot of salt, my t-cell stopped working at some point and I didn't realize it. I've solved that problem by getting a replacement which I'm waiting to receive, but I don't know what the sediment on the bottom of the pool is and how to best remove it.

How to best remove white/gray residue particles at bottom of pool

We have a 2yr old above ground SW pool with a Hayward Perflex DE filter and Perplex Aqua Trol SWG. Things have been amazing & we've had to do very little maintenance until.... we had a lot of rain and I attempted to syphon a small amount of water out and ended up taking practically half the pool...

New member with a lot to learn :)

Hi - my name is Megan and we own an above ground 18' SW pool. This is our second season and for the most part we have had amazing results with very little maintenance. I've been struggling lately and want to educate myself about our pool so I don't have to entirely rely on our local pool stores...
