I assume when you say come loose you mean a significant gap. The dump flap shouldn't have an airtight seal, right? There's not a huge gap between the flap and vacuum but I wouldn't consider it an air-tight seal either.

Ouch. That's crazy. And the motor box can be bad even if the pool is moving around correctly? 4 years seems like a crazy short life for a pool vacuum only used 4 months a year.
