    Test Results...a Host of Problems

Thx! Dry stabilizer seems to do the job more cost-efficiently. :) I was able to bump-up CYA to 40, and have the gang over for a Memorial Day PAR-TEE! Now back to my normal daily LC-routine. Thx y'all !!!

    Test Results...a Host of Problems

Big diff, trichlor vs dry stabilizer (straight CYA-acid). PM indicates 2.6 vs 4.7. Had some trichlor tablets leftover after converting to LC-application, so thought I could make use of them. However with the risk of algae, best to go get some dry stabilizer. What's your opinion on liquid...

    Test Results...a Host of Problems

Thanks...it doesn't seem so bad. I was concerned that addressing each item would caused issues with others, so I wanted to get expertise/opinion on how to efficiently approach it. For dry stabilizer, can I use Trichlor? Don't have CYA per se. As I understand it, Trichlor would add some...

    Test Results...a Host of Problems

Test Results: TA 120 CH 240 CYA 20 FC 1.0 CC 0.0 pH 7.8 Based on ideal chemical levels, I've got a host of problems: High TA max 90 Low CH min 250 Low CYA min 30 Low FC ideal 6.0 High pH ideal 7.6 Tackled low FC by adding liquid chlorine. Not sure what to address next...please help!

    Fine-sand substance buildup

That seems to be the case. Earlier on Fri, it was stubborn to the touch; but now it loosens when rubbed. I was concerned that the deposits were permanent. So, the key is keeping CSI in check to avoid further scaling and 'eliminate' existing deposits. Thank goodness, thought I would have to...

    Fine-sand substance buildup

Guess I gotta maintain a log...or better yet, just use Pool Math :) But definitely, higher temps in the summer...South TX! Maybe it was building up overtime, but just wasn't aware of it. With test results and visual inspection being OK, there was no concern. Only realized it when routinely...

    Fine-sand substance buildup

OK, so I can scale up/down the same CH test process by proportioning parameters. Ohh, like mgftp just mentioned.

    Fine-sand substance buildup

Yup, probably that very day I didn't do a test :) Well, at least I was able to confirm it was scaling with the test and everyone's help here...THX! Now the hard part, cleaning it out; which begs an Q&A... Planning to use a clarifier to gather/cluster the fine deposits and remove via pool filter...

    Fine-sand substance buildup

No pool thermometer :( or heater Based on CSI calculator and from what I can gather here, higher temperatures increase CSI. With my test results, and temperature being high that day (01/16-70F), CSI would be in that critical range. Not sure if this factors in, but earlier last week had...

    Fine-sand substance buildup

My CH taylor kit (K-1770) specifies factor-10 (1 drop = 10 ppm). You recommend another one?

    Fine-sand substance buildup

.38 Based on the previously mentioned test result; and since having no pool thermometer, estimated temp 70F (temp-high for the test day). Probably best to get a pool thermometer to get more accurate results. :)

    Fine-sand substance buildup

Signature updated. Filter pressure hasn't changed. Performed routine brush, vacuum to WASTE, and backwash. Discovered a bunch of fine white residue (see pic). Also discovered residue in pump basket bay, and cleared that out. Confirmed it was calcium carbonate via muriatic acid application...

    Fine-sand substance buildup

Didn't think it would be, but I'll ask anyway... Will using a different brand of liquid chlorine be a cause (both at 10% sodium hypochlorite)?

CSI ??? Skip that one in my TFP introduction :) Will get my FC readings UP...thx!

    Fine-sand substance buildup

My particles are CLINGING to any surface below water...on the border-tile, light frames, in the skimmer bay and basket and on the plaster (per touch test). Given 'good' water chemistry per test results, I'm thinking/hoping it just made be pollen. Thought maybe it was some kind of calcium...

    Fine-sand substance buildup

Just noticed a white-yellowish fine-sand substance covering all surfaces below water-level including the skimmer bay (see attached). Ran chemical tests, and everything seems to be OK, other than TA being high. However, I was told to adjust TA only if pH is an issue; and pH is OK. I've...

Pool Chemicals Application - New Approach

Good deal! Have a follow-up question to post: Besides pouring bleach in front of return jets for chemical-application, are these viable options? -Pour bleach into skimmer with pump running -Pour bleach into tablet chlorinator before or during pump operation.

Pool Chemicals Application - New Approach

Perfect...thx! Currently I just have a 5way test kit, but looking to add-on a CYA test kit and chlorine drop-test kit (FAS-DPD...I think that's what it is), or just get the TF-100 total kit, to perform more thorough testing and support this new approach (as per my TFP readings).

Pool Chemicals Application - New Approach

After some reading here about the Liquid-Chlorine/Bleach (LC/B) approach to pool chemicals application (PCA), want to give it a try; but have some Q&As before proceeding: -Any transition issues to changing PCA from trichlor tablets to LC/B? -Use a chlorinator for trichlor application. Can I...
