Hi, I have a Pentair Sta-Rite 1 3/4HP pump(P6RAA6F-216L) that just threw some bearings. 28k Vinyl liner pool with heater, cart filter, and Pilot SWG. No water features. Looking for recommendations on replacement (is VSP an option) and solid place to purchase from. I'm located on LI.

Looking for some direction - Pentair S7M120 Replacement carts

I've been doing some research and can't seem to find a clear path on replacement carts for the Pentair StaRite S7M120 filter. Research indicates Pleatco may be a top rated aftermarket replacement but I don't believe they make replacements for my filter. Does anyone have any intel on what's...

    Vinyl Pool CH?

Sorry guys .. just catching up ... Here's an earlier thread on the matter at hand. It's worth a read through. Perhaps CSI may be the metric to look at: http://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/63332-Did-low-calcium-cause-my-fiberglass-steps-to-blister?p=534442#post534442

    Vinyl Pool CH?

If you have fiberglass steps in your vinyl liner pool you likely want to maintain your CH. I have run into blistering on my fiberglass steps due to insufficient CH.

    Question on landscape lighting.

I can vouch for Volt as well. Use them exclusively. I believe they are brass though, not bronze. Cast lighting has bronze fixtures and they're considerably more expensive.

^ Direct burial landscape lighting cable will work - 14 or 12 gauge.

CH in vinyl pool - why the minimum target?

The devil is in the details. If you have a vinyl liner pool with fiberglass steps you may need to maintain a CH of 150, otherwise your steps can become compromised and/or end up with blistering. Cartridge filter quest...

Sta-Rite S7M120 cartridge filter (it's in my sig). http://www.pentairpool.com/pdfs/System3SMOM.pdf Page 5: "NOTICE: Be sure upper tank half contacts Cord Ring surface evenly and seal area is clean and free from dirt. Do not lubricate Cord Ring; lubricants may cause the Ring to swell." I was...

    Cartridge filter quest...

Just an FYI. Not all cartridge filters are supposed to have lube applied to that seal. The Pentair manual explicitly advises against it. I don;t have the manual for the Black Diamond 90 Cartridge Filter but I would advise checking the cleaning and reinstallation instructions before lubricating...

Anyone Tried Sonos' Wireless Speaker System?

Just remember the play 3 and play are not weather proof speakers. The Sonos experience is bar none, the best. You'll love it. I would run some direct burial speaker wire (or 12gauge landscape lighting cable work well for speakers) while the ground is open. Locate the spots where you want...

Did low calcium cause my fiberglass steps to blister?

Great read - I wonder if the question was rephrased and "asked about the relationship of CSI with fiberglass " what the response would be .... or perhaps that was answered definitively above ??

Did low calcium cause my fiberglass steps to blister?

Ok, so I really appreciate you guys getting back on this. I'm going to try the chlorine puck and the vitamin C tab and see which might be successful with the stains. I'll report back with progress. As far as the blisters are concerned I guess I'm stuck with them - likely nothing structural yet...

Did low calcium cause my fiberglass steps to blister?

Split from this thread. Lets keep it all together. Bama So I'm picking a late model thread to re-open here with a quick question about a vinyl pool with fiberglass entry steps - I'm noticing dime size blisters on the fiberglass steps. I've been trolling through past threads here and all seem...

Speakers for travertine paver pool deck?

Some pics would be helpful. If you're using outdoor rated direct burial cable there's no reason it needs to be in conduit other than for protection or through a chase. Omni speakers are inefficient, IMO you can do better. If you go with rock speakers you'll make the connection to the pigtail...

Wood planter around pool/section of metal fence? Fence ideas

Re: Wood planter around pool/section of metal fence? Fence i Just my two cents, I would be concerned specifically with plantings to mask the fence as it would obscure your visibility into the pool area. With young children this is an imperative. We have a black aluminum estate fence (the fence...

    Speaker Cover?

There wasn't one pic of the whole pool so I was kind of evaluating the area in two pieces. (1) The left side of the pool (when standing on the deck) - the seating area and fire pit, and 2) the right side of the pool - where the slide and diving board reside. You could try your idea and see how...

    Speaker Cover?

You guys have done a beautiful job on the yard and pool area, really ! Oh boy, I would have a field day with your yard (and your wallet). It's a big space and well landscaped. Do you have landscape lighting now ? Do you have a budget for the audio improvements ? You have two options on the audio side as I see it: 1) you can stay with conventional speakers - you...

    Speaker Cover?

Not a problem. Glad I could help. I'll tell you these traditional outdoor speakers kick the pants off rock speakers and the 360 degree speakers. While you;re dogging that trench for the wire, buy extra wire and run your prewire for landscape lighting. If you have questions, ask - I can give you...
