Liner Replacement - Best Time To...

Hi, All. My above ground pool is in need of a liner replacement. Does it matter if replacement happens before closing the pool? Or is it best to replace in the spring when opening?

    Missing Pressure Gauge

Thank you! Possibly dumb question... does the pump need to be off and hoses unplugged before the gauge is added?

    Missing Pressure Gauge

Hi, All. Inherited my pool at the end of last summer and went through opening it for the first time earlier this Spring. (Had a heck of a time learning the ropes). Everything has been going pretty well this Spring, but I’m in the middle of my first slam this year for some cloudy water. My...

    First Time Winterizing

Hi, All. First time pool owner getting ready to winterize. I’ve searched Amazon, Home Depot, multiple local pool stores looking for the best winter cover options. Any recommendations for specific brands of winter covers? I’m in Houston, TX - so fairly mild winters in terms of snow and ice.

Trying to Defeat a Green Monster

So I appear to be stuck again. Water is a slightly lighter green than it was before I drained some, but 5 days into the new slam and no improvement in color. Overview and recent logs below. I’m truly stumped. :( I only have one jet return. Could poor circulation be causing the algae to stick...

Trying to Defeat a Green Monster

I drained a little more than half. Scrubbed the walls, skimmer (and jet outlet) with bleach, brushed and refilled. Also did a backwash before I drained. It’s already looking a little better - still green, though. I’m rebalancing the levels and will start another slam once those are set. I’ll...

Trying to Defeat a Green Monster

Online filter manual says It’s 150lbs of sand (not sure if that measurement is helpful or not). Once water has drained I’m going to open the filter and make sure there is enough sand - a little nervous about trying that without the manual - previous owner must have thrown it away. Drain has...

Trying to Defeat a Green Monster

I’ll check on the refund. I’ve attached pictures of my equipment. Should I try draining still?

Trying to Defeat a Green Monster

10 minute test FC: 22 Added 209oz of 5.7% bleach Waited 10 minutes FC: 30.5 And gosh darn it on the bleach - just bought 12 new jugs! Would it be bad to finish off those jugs before purchasing the “plain” you mentioned? Or do you think part of the problem is the cloromax technology? I haven’t...

Trying to Defeat a Green Monster

FC was 28.5 ppm on 9/18 at 1:50 PM. Since then, I’ve had to add 348oz of bleach. The first addition was 174 oz at 9:15 PM on 9/18. Second addition of 174 oz wasn’t needed until 9/19 at 6 PM. (Imelda rain and storms were around during those days and tests. New picture is attached to this message.

Trying to Defeat a Green Monster

I drained and refilled about 5 weeks, when I first inherited the pool. Only chemicals that have gone in since that time have been baking soda, muriatic acid, and chlorine tablets (before I found TFP and switched to bleach). The pool store also had me use some Green to Clean and powder shock a...

Trying to Defeat a Green Monster

Hi, Y’all. I’ve been slamming a pool for 10 days - balanced the water prior to slamming, daily brushing and vacuuming, backwashing the filter, testing every few hours with TF-100 kit, adding bleach... and the algae is not going away or even looking better since I started the slam! I’m stumped...

    First SLAM

I inherited an above ground ~16k gallon pool. It has been consistently green the past several weeks, despite me getting all chem levels in range. I just started my first SLAM and my recommend chlorine level is 28. I have a testing kit, but it definitely doesn’t go up to being able to test that...
