Thanks I think we will probably go that route once we find out the leaf situation and the winter cover wears out.

Ok thanks I suspect there won't be many leaves on it as the trees are all on the south side of the pool and the wind now is primarily out of the north so all it will be doing is holding the cover down

Again is there any reason I can't leave the leaf net on there to hold the cover down instead of pulling it off before the first snow?

I just use a winterize kit for 30000 gal the winters here see temps down to 10-20 below zero but not for extended periods mostly 10-40 deg. above zero. I am mostly worried about algae blooming in the spring.

I have thought about that also what do I have to do differently to prevent algae growth if I dont have a cover installed? I have had such a problem with this Familypoolfun.com has been such a pain and no help. I have a leaf net coming and will install it asap.

I have the test results from this morning Ph. 7.5 FC. 3 ppm Hardness. 100 ppm Alkalinity. 240 ppm CYA. 60 ppm Alkalinity is below 300 for the first time yeah!

I read somewhere to add the acid to the pool with the filter off so it can get a better bite on the compounds making the TA high they said do this for about 30 min then start the filter. What do you think?

Yes I have to get a set FC is on the high side the sulphur smell is gone just wondering if that is why the well water alkalinity is so high

I filled my pool with well water that has a sulphur smell and 300 plus alkalinity I have been adding muratic acid about every 4-5 days to bring ph back to 7.2 but alkalinity seems to not be lowering any suggestions?
