    Changing Sand

We do for sure have a great area and are glad the previous owners did that! I’m going to get my father-in-law to come cut the pvc and install unions, where needed. Might not happen for a few weeks, but I’ll update when I do. Thanks!

    Changing Sand

Thanks so much! We are getting sand in the pool and believe we have a cracked lateral. We have been battling mustard algae for months and this is the only thing we haven’t done. We bought his house with the pool already here, so we decided to change the sand and start fresh so we know exactly...

    Changing Sand

Hello all! I would like to change the sand in my filter, but am struggling. I do have unions on my pipes and they appear to have been caulked in places. I was able to remove the caulk in the spot closest to the multi-port top, but can’t seem to get the union to loosen. Any suggestions?

    Intellichlor IC40 issue

I have the same system. My light turns red like that when my flow, or pump speed, is set too low, or sometimes when I need to backwash. Try adjusting the speed up on your pump. If that doesn't work, you might want to try backwashing. The salt lights act funny like that when the flow light is...

    SLAM question

It has been cloudy and hard to test CYS the last 2 day, but I have checked it several times since starting the slam and keep getting 60. Would it be helpful to go up to 70 in the event I might be misreading it?

    SLAM question

I should also say that while slimey, they look like sand.

    SLAM question

They do brush away into what I assume is a cloud of algae. Some of these line were thicker and longer when I began the slam and other haven't seemed to make any real progress. Some of them are harder to remove than others. I checked the texture the other day and they were slimey.

    SLAM question

The first pic is a shot of on of the lines I'm dealing with. The second shows the whole pool. This lighting is bad, but it's a brownish color with a hint of yellow. The water has been clear the whole time. This stuff is on the walls and floor.

    Sock Test?

I believe that sand is getting into my pool. I can pick it up and it feels gritty between my fingers. My dolphin is also collecting it as it cleans the pool. I have seen the sock test mentioned. Is this the appropriate way to determine if it is indeed sand and not dirt? If how how do I do the...

    SLAM question

Thanks for the advice! I am brushing a ton already. Normally, I brush before I add more bleach, so it's several times a day. I'll keep going. Hopefully there will he more improvement soon.

    SLAM question

Unfortunately, it is. I've used 24 gallons of 10% bleach so far. The CYA was higher earlier this season and I've managed to drop if from 100 to 80 prior to beginning the slam. Should I consider draining more?

    SLAM question

I'm on day 4 of SLAM and wanted to get some advice. My water is, and has been, clear and is now sparkling! Visible algae has appeared to lessen each day, until today. I went 11 hours between checks and lost 8 ppm FC. The last two days I have lost just over this amount combined, so this drop...

    What Am I Doing Wrong?

What ended up happening with the algae on the stairs? My pool has also been crystal clear since opening, but I'm currently in the process of a slam and have algae in dirt like form on my stairs.

    SLAM questions

I began my SLAM last night, using 10% bleach. I removed light, stairs, and rail. I've cleaned in the skimmer and rainwater through the slide. I also brushed last night and again this morning. I checked my water around every 2-3 hours at first and went close to 6 hours overnight. The results were...

This algae is clinging to the walls an floor. It's dark green, yellow, and even brown in some spots. Nothing is floating in the water and everything brushes away very easily, buy quickly returns. I do have a test kit, Taylor K-2006 with FAS-DPD. Either way, I know that I need to SLAM the pool...
