Plumbing Part ID / Reason For

Hm. That is a good point. A 2" coupling would be too large, and a 1-1/2" too small. Threading might be the way I have to do it.

I worry that the wall is thin. I read something on Terry Love's website about taking a slip coupling, cutting in half, below the ridge. Then cut length wise, but not in half, to form a C. Then prime and glue pipe and C and snap on. I think I'm going to try that. The other alternative is...

Thanks for the replies. I've got two of them, and then a screw with putty in between. Injection ports make sense. Both of the ones pictured are threaded, so I think the caps belong. That bottom one sits so close to the concrete that I think I'm stuck with it. I'll see if I can just plug...

Good morning. Can anyone tell me what this thing is, why this thing is used, and more importantly, how do I stop it leaking? Thanks. Image attached.

    PoolMath FC Logic

Hah, thanks. I actually pulled down a white paper by him from (https://standards.nsf.org/apps/group_public/download.php/5891/Chlorine-CYA.pdf) and saved for later reading. The paper didn't list his affiliation, but CDC board is good to know, though they (CDC) really don't seem to care for CYA...

    PoolMath FC Logic

Thanks, this helps. I think I'm going to have to sit down and do the eq calc, and play around with some scaled down water samples, so I can convince myself that a 10ppm increase in CYA at ~7.5 pH, 80 F warrants a two fold increase in target FC. That FC means the three species listed though is...

    PoolMath FC Logic

Hi, thanks for the response. "More chlorine" isn't the same as "more free chlorine." My question is more: why is free chlorine listed as needing to be elevated? Suppose at Xppm CYA, it takes Y mol Cl- to register 2 ppm FC... the fact that it now takes Y + Z mol Cl- to achieve 2 ppm FC in the...

    PoolMath FC Logic

Good evening, This has probably been asked, but doing a search for "FC CYA" yields a lot of results. In the calculator, the FC targets adjust based on CYA levels. I'm curious as to why. Isn't Free Chlorine, Free Chorline? And if it was bound by CYA, it would be... not Free Chlorine? So...
