Pool dust or algae settling in floors

I realized my chlorine was too low so I shocked it and all the algae on the floor cleared up as well as pool clarity significantly improving. I did the OCLT test this morning and lost about 1ppm but sun had already hit. So I plan to do it again tomorrow to make sure.

Pool dust or algae settling in floors

What does LAVA mean? To be in range all the time, seems like I’d need to add a gallon a day. Does that sound excessive? Are there cheaper ways to maintain the levels such as tablets?

Pool dust or algae settling in floors

Thanks problem solved. The clarity is a TON clearer and I don’t see much dust anymore. With my 18K gallon vinyl pool, how often should I expect to add chlorine? CYA is around 35 and I use liquid chlorine (10%). I typically add about half gallon a night. Seems like with half gallon I can get...

Pool dust or algae settling in floors

I have a Taylor test kit. My most recent readings were: Chlorine: 4 pH: 7.8 Alk - 90 CYA- 30 CH - 200 What can you tell from the readings that would constantly cause all this algae settling at the bottom of pool? I assume the algae is dead right? Or is it alive and that’s why it keeps...

Pool dust or algae settling in floors

I run my robot every day and often more than once a day. No matter how much I run it, there is always algae settling on the bottom floors of my pool. My pool readings are normal and water is pretty clear and I run a sand filter. Is there anything I can do to reduce the amount of algae / dust...

    Leaking somewhere

I cannot for the life of me figure out what is causing wet spots around my pool pump and filter. I don’t see any leaks or feel anything wet on the pump or filter. I have checked both drain plugs and the strainer cover/gasket on the pump. I’ve also checked all piping as well as the filter’s...

Return line keep making making sucking noise

What is facing out mean? Does that just mean face is straight on? Also, when facing to side, should it be towards the wall (which is a foot away) or away from wall?

Return line keep making making sucking noise

1 return so only this one is causing issue. It is not a rotating return. It does not look like any air is coming out. Just occasionally there’s a whirl pool. I pointed down thinking it would create better flow. What is the optimal position? I have a Hayward super pump 1.1 HP. Single...

Return line keep making making sucking noise

Return line creates a whirlpool and makes a sucking noise. Happens pretty often. The eyeball is pointed down towards the ground. What is causing this?

    Filter sand entering pool

Actually most of it is algae around the pool but some of it is actually sand. Theres enough sand to suggest there might be an issue. However, how much sand in the pool is okay? Is it okay to have some? How much sand in the pool does it become really an issue?

    Filter sand entering pool

Is it possible to inspect the laterals without removing the sand? I would like to try the path of least resistance before taking it apart. If we do need to remove sand, would you recommend just doing this towards the end of season instead?

    Filter sand entering pool

I have a sand filter with sand that I replaced last season. Not sure if something cracked inside while replacing the sand but there is sand settled all over the pool floor but mostly in the center. Please see picture attached. Pools been open for about a month.

    Hayward Multivalve Port Handle

Thanks. The puddles seem to occur only during back wash. Not sure if that helps in identifying exactly what is leaking.

    Hayward Multivalve Port Handle

I installed a brand new Hayward Multi-valve port just last season. Should the handle have any play when the filter is on? I can move it up and down. I don’t recall my old valve having any play. It does not appear to affect the function of the valve. But wanted to check with the community...

Is this Mustard Algae? Please help

Pool looks clear right now but I see a bunch of greenish-yellow sediments on the floor. When brushed, it turns into dust and clouds the pool. The sediment is all over the pool and in no particular spot. It was way worst a few days until we SLAM and now pool is clear but still see these...

    High PSI - Help

Will do. However, the pool appears to be operating normally. What are some symptoms of such a high PSI? Just want to make sure I can sleep tonight.

    High PSI - Help

I just opened my pool for the season and did my normal routine to open. I ran the pump as well as backwashing and noticed that my PSI is around 34. However, when the pump is off, the PSI is at 22. Does this mean my PSI is actually 12 and that the guage needs to be replace or re-inserted? Thanks!

Can someone tell me if this is green or yellow algae?

I ran a set of test again today and my following readings are: FC - 5.5 CC - .5 pH - 7.8 Alk - 150 CH - 225 Any reason why my FC dropped from 9.5 to 5.5 in 12 hours? Is it still fighting the algae? Also, should CC be at .5? The only thing I added last night was approx 3.5lbs of Dry Acid...

Can someone tell me if this is green or yellow algae?

You think it will be okay if I get a Floating Chlorinator which can tune the output at the lowest. I do like the idea that this can maintain the chlorine in the pool...I have Leslies 3" Jumbo tabs (99% trichloro-s-triazinetrione). I use to leave it in the skimmer, maybe that is why I was...

    Lowerin pH with Dry Acid

My pH reading is approximately 7.9 -8. I don't have a SWG pool...I think I just have a traditional chlorine pool. The pool is vinyl and is 18K in volume. What happens when I have too much sulfur? What tests would detect that?

Can someone tell me if this is green or yellow algae?

If it is stained, what are the steps for that? I do have some slight rust on my pool steps, should this be a concern?

    Lowerin pH with Dry Acid

Today I got a pH reading of approx. 7.9/8. Per the Taylor K2006 kit, I believe I am suppose to add approx. 5.5-7 lbs of dry acid into my 18K gallon vinyl pool. I purchased some from Leslies and before carefully reading the instructions, I added about 3.5 lbs of Dry Acid at once. The...
