Lightning Strike knocks out pool equipment + more inside

I get it. Is there some advantage to onboard CBs? My main power panel with all my pool CBs are about 5 feet away. Is it possible I don't need them on a newer controller? Any advice on the order we install everything? If I am waiting for my insurance money, could I install pump first and send...

Are there any practical differences between i1/i2 vs VS/VSF/Flo3? Flo3 has variable flow and newest? VS/VSF cost the same as Flo3? i1/i2 are older technology?

The guy said it will be done in about 5 hours. His quote was confusing vs what he said on the phone. He does installs and answers calls. He was on side when he called me back this AM. CMP Powerclean Ultra In Line Chlorinator w/ parts instal & labor $373.54 Pentair Intelliflo i2 VS (011060?)...

Wow! This is a very similar upgrade to mine! I have manual valves leading from each skimmer and bottom intakes. And, I don't have a heater or SWG to wire. This a a very thorough step-by-step post! Thanks!

Okay, now I'm a bit confused. I see you posted on one of these posts. I'm in Central Texas. I am not an expert but we have been told not to mix Saltwater generator with limestone. What keeps you from being convinced? I would love the convenience we would gain over the BBB method we are currently...

Lightning Strike knocks out pool equipment + more inside

Great question. Pool Guy said he isn't sure about the availability of the cable that connects the IntelliFlo3 to the IntelliCenter. So, yeah, this is a good question. This is our first quote. We can look at other pool companies that also qualify us for a $300 rebate from the city. I'm not 100%...

I stand corrected! Thanks! One of my friends installs w/ saltwater has the cheaper stone that is flaking off. It must be the cheaper stone. Sorry for the mistake.

Wow! 3 days for self professional installation? I will ask. I assumed it was a single day install. Maybe I'm assuming too much here. He looked at out controller after the lightning surge and gave us the quote a few days later. I'll have to ask Wow! 3 days for self professional installation? I...

The quotes say "Intelliflo" for the pump and Intellicenter I5PS. Your comparison chart would make me question the exact model they intend to install because on the phone he mentioned WhisperFlo and ScreenLogic. I thought that someone on here would see through this if something were questionable.

Right! The point is to replace the pump and control panel first. They should work with our existing Polaris cleaner/booster and Hayward single cartridge filter. Later we would upgrade to a bigger filter as the one we have is undersized. Still later we would upgrade the cleaner once we figure out...

Hmmm. I found a post about the difference between easy touch vs intellicon https://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/automation-easytouch-vs-intelliconnect.167263/ That's what I'm wondering! I found on the TFP: For Pentair automation you have the following options: IntelliConnect (basic)...

I just got off the phone w/ the pool company. The description on the quote says "Intelliflo" but he thinks it is a WhisperFlo VST. He will get back to me. I like asking questions in TFP because it helps me ask the right questions of my pool company. Apparently, this set up would require...

Thanks for the quick replay. I have read of the convenience of SCG but we have limestone coping and waterfall. I've read and talked to friends and read on TFP that the acidity will dissolve the limestone, right?

So, I posted last month about a lightning strike that caused a surge that broke our control panel. All my existing info is(or s/b) in my signature. https://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/lightning-strike-knocks-out-pool-equipment-more-inside.262468/ My question is about the reasonableness of...

Sorry for the late reply! I managed to bypass the board completely connecting the receiving relay directly to the relay that feeds the pump. That's great as I can get some circulation going and get my pool clean again. I added more photos to help make things clearer. I swear I tested the voltage...

I believe we have 240V going to controller to the bottom left relay. He tested 240V across the two black wires. I've followed to the lead to the DC converter on the back of the controller card. The voltage makes it to the fuse but doesn't make it the DC converter chip. I jumped the fuse and...

That is an old picture. I just had an electrician verify that the control panel is receiving power from the main breaker panel. The control panel appears to be fried.
