New Build - League City, TX

VERY happy with both the finish, and the builder. We have had zero issues with the equipment/construction. We did have a couple of user errors though..... We get TONS of compliments on the color as well. I can't give enough kudos to Pearland Pools. They did us right. They were...

    Scotts Bonus S?

New pool owner....first Spring coming up. I am "used" to using Scotts Bonus S with Fire Ant Killer for my lawn. It seems to work really well in Houston to battle the weeds and the ants that always seems to pop up. Normal application is done thru a simple wheel driven spreader. Any...

    New Pool Chemistry Question

Plaster was done on 6/28. The CYA test was done @ Warehouse Pool Supply. I have the TF Kit, but haven't ventured much past the FC and pH part of the testing.

    New Pool Chemistry Question

Our new plaster pool is puzzling the heck out of me..... Water tests as of Sunday: FC - 1.5 pH - 7.2 TA - Was at 40, so I added some baking soda to bring it up per the calculator. I haven't retested this yet. CYA - 80 We are using a rainbow feeder for now. I am running our pump from about...

    Finish Upgrade Question

We just finished up, and did the WetEdge Lune Quartz. Color was Pacific, but I think they call it Aruba now. We like it a lot. Great color and feel. In all honesty, we had some startup issues, mainly due to the ph being too high, and me not managing the water very well, so we ending up with...

Outdoor Shower- Do I need it?

We just finished up, and did not do an outdoor shower. We did do a garden spicket near the equipment, but in all honesty, its mainly for a foot wash. I think the PB tied it in with the auto-leveler line, so it didn't cost us a dime to add the spicket (I think the PB said it was a $2.00 valve...

New Build - League City, TX

Our little oasis is pretty much complete. Still need to do some landscaping, but we might wait until the Spring to do that. Not much use in trying to get something planted if we can't keep it alive... Updated pics :) Spray Decking Waterfall Items left: Waterfall - Not flowing real good...

New Build - League City, TX

Thanks! As best as I can tell, spraydeck is very similiar to Kool Deck. It is some sort of a multi-layer expoxy resin type "stuff". Here is the site that the PB gave us (we also had samples and real pics to look at). We choose the Sandstone color. http://www.poolworkstx.com/pages/decking.html...

    Pool size - feedback?

We are only a couple of days in to our pool, but I can tell you, that our boy and his friends are in hog heaven. Our pool, which is posted on here (New Build League City), is an "L" shape due to a detached garage and easements. The front leg is only about 8.5' x 36' long (3.5' to 5' deep)...

    New Plaster Startup Questions

Found my test kit :D Of course, it was the last place I looked... Ph was at 7.5 this evening, Fc was at 2. Looking good, so we splashed :) I also tested my CYA - and it is very, very low. Didn't even register in the tube, so if I had to guess, I would say it was in the 15 range. When I...

New Build - League City, TX

Thanks for all the comments. Its not a real big pool, but we squeezed as much as we could back there, and are very happy with the results. I did buy a TF kit, can't find where I put it right now, but its somewhere around the house. I have been using the strips for now. I can't even guess how...

    Wet Edge?

We just had Wet Edge Luna Quartz installed on Tuesday and absolutely love it. Our water is cleared up, and the quartz crystals are shining thru the water. Our color was Pacific, but I think they call it Aruba now. Plaster color is a light blue.

    New Plaster Startup Questions

Definitely Jason. I chatted with my PB when he was here firing up the equipment on Wednesday. He gave me some tips for handling it thru the weekend, and told me to call if I had any questions. At least I know we aren't countering each others efforts. Still can't find my dang TFKit. I know I...

New Build - League City, TX

PB came out Wednesday and dumped about 3 gal of muratic in it, dropped some pucks in the skimmer, filled up the rainbow, and cranked her up. Initially, there were a few brown streaks and some splotches in the plaster, but between the brushing and the chemicals, they are fading pretty quickly...

    New Plaster Startup Questions

Yepper. In all honesty, I can't remember where I put my TF kit, so all I had was the strips from the builders packet.... that is why the ranges are there.

    New Plaster Startup Questions

Interesting...our PB fired up the equipment yesterday while putting startup chems in. Thanks for your experience with the splotches. That makes me feel better. The PB pretty much told me the same, no worries, it will all get worked out with good brushing and good chemistry. Hard not to...

    New Plaster Startup Questions

I've asked my PB this, but I always like to get a 2nd opinion, especially when I have absolutely no clue what I am talking about....... Plaster was done on Tuesday, and filled over night. When we were brushing last night (Wednesday), and again this morning (Thursday), we noticed some brown...

New Build - League City, TX

And we are FULL! Nice to see how "clean" our city water is...... PB to come by today to fire up our equipment. They said we need to get the chems straight, but should be swimming in 4-5 days!

New Build - League City, TX

Acid guys came around noonish, got her scrubbed up and dropped the hoses in. They kinda looked at my bride a little funny when she took this pic: I was pretty happy when I got home, and saw this kind of progress after 6ish hours. I'm guessing we had some pretty good water pressure during...

Worried Im being taken by my pool builder

I almost hate to write this, as it is not good. We just had ours done 3 weeks ago or so, and it does not look anything like that. Ours came out fairly smooth. Not plaster smooth, but definitely not as rough as what I saw in your pics. I'm no concrete guy, but it almost looks like they didn't...

Waterfall and coping are complete. Waterfall Completed coping #1: Completed coping #2 Decking form scheduled for Monday, and inspection Tuesday, and pour on Wednesday. Weather pending.... Kinda figures, we haven't had any significant rain in Houston in 150 or so days, and the week we...

New Build - League City, TX

Well, day two of the rock work did not bring us a finished product, but I talked to our builder today, and we aren't scheduled for deck work till the first part of next week, so I guess it doesn't matter too much. I'm about done wishing/hoping for this thing to move faster.....it is what it is...
