Pea gravel base, thickness of underlayment

I used 1/4- crushed gravel under my 12x24 intex and put down 1”x4’x8’ foam board insulation from Lowe’s. The bottom of the pool is very soft and cushy. I would recommend buying 12 sheets of that insulation, then draining, put insulation underneath and refill. I think it would be much better in...

    Putting AGP on concrete patio

Agreed about the liner, just need to figure out how shim the legs to make them level. Offhand I can’t think of a good way?

How long your Ultra Frame INTEX lasted?

We are on year 2 of out 12x24 intex. Winterized it and covered it over winter. Opened it back up with no problems, no wear to speak of and no leaks. For $900 it was a great investment. If it only lasted 2 more years I would be fine with that but I think it will last another 4-6 with proper care.

    New above ground pool question

Jeani is spot on. We just had 5 ten year old girls product testing the corners for 4 hours during my daughters recent birthday! Those corners got a workout, but all is good. Enjoy your new pool!

Show off your AGP Deck please!

Looks great Sam! I’m still in my design phase but all these great decks are giving me good ideas. Hey, I noticed a vacuum in one of your pics, which make/model is it and would you buy it again if it needed replacing?

    Installing Intex 12x24 AGP,,,,,questions

Thanks! I’ll pick up the sand today, after finishing up some landscaping and the pool should be ready for kids. And maybe some bigger people! I’m really happy with the size of this 12x24 pool. I’m glad now I didn’t go with the 16x32, might have been too much?

Questions continue! Just so I have it right, before using pump for the first time I need to Backwash first then Rinse the sand filter before setting it to Filter?

    Installing Intex 12x24 AGP,,,,,questions

Well, pool is finally up and filling! It should be full by this evening and that will give me time to pick up some more filter sand to get the pump hooked up. The set up went as well as can be expected with my pops and 10yr old daughter helping. I think me and pops could have done it faster...

New AGP build - Intex 12x24

That I don’t know for sure but by comparing pics on the web it looks to have 3 more side supports and one more end suppor, and look to be spaced the same, just more supports so you will have to beak out your math skills!. I would think they build them with a template and all supports would have...

    Installing Intex 12x24 AGP,,,,,questions

OK, hopefully this is my last question before setting up the pool. So, gravel is in and I still need to compact it. So, my question is,,, when I tamp down the gravel and then put my 1/2” foam in should the foam be even with pavers or should I keep base even with pavers and put 1/2” foam board...

    Installing Intex 12x24 AGP,,,,,questions

It’s going, or trying to go! I just got a couple quotes to have the site leveled, plus have a dying pear tree removed. Now I just need to get the work scheduled so I can get pavers and gravel down and start pool setup. If I remember right you used the 3/4” 4x8 sheets of insulation, do you think...

    Installing Intex 12x24 AGP,,,,,questions

I certainly will! The other wrinkle in my install is my 42” gate to get into my back yard, I’m gonna have to probably install a bigger gate for any equipment to get into the back yard. On the plus side that will allow me to get a riding mower out back, which will be god for my old knees.

    Installing Intex 12x24 AGP,,,,,questions

Thanks for the advice Brian! Here is one more question. I’m going to go the 4” paver route, should they be at ground level, or would it be better if they were an inch or two above leveled surface for pool?

    Installing Intex 12x24 AGP,,,,,questions

Thanks again Sam. I see the 4x8x16” concrete blocks at Lowe’s so will go that route. Dang, this is more work than I planned on, but, it will be worth it.

    Installing Intex 12x24 AGP,,,,,questions

I have an excavator coming out to give me a quote on leveling a spot for the pool, so that will be taken care of. My next question is regarding pavers under the supports. While I realize the pool is heavy, my back yard is hard clay and I wouldn't think pavers would be needed, but? I’m ready to...
