    Water Guru

I really want to give Water Guru a shot but first of all I am having a hard time reaching someone at WG to ask questions. So at first glance Customer Service seems lacking. But with the pandemic I am giving them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe someone else could help answer my question. My...

    LED Light Upgrade

I am about to remodel our pool and one thing I asked the builder was to upgrade to LED lighting. Currently have old halogen? possibly lighting. They are quoting me $3,000 for a pool and a spa light in 12v with color changes. This seems high to me? Thoughts?

Wetedge Aqua Blue or Cool Blue

About to have our pool refinished and trying to decide on Wetedge Aqua Blue or Cool Blue. We currently have a white plaster pool and originally planned to stay with the white which is why I chose the Cool Blue since it's white cement with some blue pebbles. I am concerned with the darker...

    Hot Tub Leaking

My pool fills the hot tub and then overflows into the pool. So when the pump shuts down the hot tub level is full. In the 8 hours between pump cycles the hot tub seems to drain / leak 3 - 4 inches of water. This appears to have started about 6 weeks ago. Can't really tell if it leaking back...

    Jandy PDA to iAqualink

I currently have a Jandy PDA system but the PDA stopped working after it was left in the rain. I am going to put it in a bowl of rice to see if it dries out. In the meantime I was reading about the iAqualink system and can't figure out how to convert my current system. Any ideas?

    FC Pool Calculator Question

Recently lowered CYA in the pool and changed the settings on the pool calculator. Confused by the FC levels. Pool calculator gives me a range of 3 - 7 with a CYA level of 40. The CYA / Chlorine chart shows a range of 3 - 5. Should I add bleach to maintain a 7 or 5?

    Drinking Water Chlorine level

The container is sealed with a screw on lid. Will the FC still lower if there us no evaporation due to the sealed container?

    Drinking Water Chlorine level

Need help with a non pool question. I have a 300 gallon water tank that I want to add bleach to to prevent algae growth. Based on the pool calculator with a CYA of 20 which I know is more than I will have in tap water I will only need to add 1.9 ounces which is only 1/4 cup of bleach to...

    Heating pool

My daughter is having a birthday party on March 2nd and wants to heat the pool. I am trying to figure out how long I will need to heat it to get to temperature. I am thinking a water temp of 85 should be warm enough for kids. I am located in Houston, TX so there is no telling what the weather...

    Chlorine Concentration

Thanks Richard. I didnt really know if understood it either. I know the reason for the higher FC was due to the higher CYA bonding to the chlorine more but I don't really understand how that affects the bleaching action of swimmers and gear.

    Chlorine Concentration

Am I correct in assuming that now that I lowered my CYA to 40 and now can maintain a FC level of 3-5 instead of 7-12 when my CYA was over 100 that the concentration of chlorine in my pool is 1/2 to 2/3 less meaning clothes, pool floats, etc... wont' bleach out as fast?

    Bath House

I assume this is the best place to post this. I am wanting to build a bath house in the backyard for my pool. Problem I have is getting sanitary sewer to the only location I can feasible build my bath house. I think there is enough fall for a gravity fed sewer system but I will have to go...

    CYA & CH

It appears I am having the same CH test problems as http://www.troublefreepool.com/ch-test-problems-t40464.html I will send him a message and see if he discovered his issue.

    CYA & CH

Did a 60% replacement over the last two days. Pool is filled back up. All my tests look good with the exception of CYA and CH. Went ahead and took a sample to the pool store today to get some additional feedback before I went overboard with the stabilizer. I know the CYA is subjective but I...

    Drain and Refill

Just drained 60% of my water in order to lower CYA. Now refilling. Shoud I add some bleach during the refill? Thinking about putting a gallon in tonight before I go to bed. I think I drained around 10,000 gallons so I assume mixed with the existing water it should be fine. What else should...

What to run during a freeze?

My pool has an automatic turn on for freeze protection. I just bought the house in June so this will be my first winter. Concerned about the freeze protection. Went through the Jandy PDA settings and noticed the only thing set to run was the Filter Pump. I also have a Polaris 280, waterfall...

Pond water for showering and brushing teeth

I know this has nothing to do with pools but it does have to do with a pond and water treatment so I thought I would ask here. I am going to the deer lease this weekend and most likely our water supply is still broken so we plan to pump water out of the pond which is fed from a well so the...

Main Drain, Vacuum, Vac Plate and Skimmer

I have a total of 4 drains in the bottom of the pool. I assume two of them are for the water fall and two of them are for the drain. One of them appears to be piped without a valve and the other with a valve. I plan to figure all this out tonight by opening and closing the valves and swimming...

Main Drain, Vacuum, Vac Plate and Skimmer

Thanks for the response Bama. There are actually three pipes on the pool suction side of the 3 way valve. Right before the tee there is another tee that cant be seen cause of the pics which is labeled skimmers. There appears to be actually two main drain suction lines one that has a valve and...

Main Drain, Vacuum, Vac Plate and Skimmer

Went out to look again this morning in the light and I am confused all over again. There are a total of 4 pipes on the suction side of the pump. There are two at the end one which has the black valve that was closed and another one without a valve. Past those which can't be seen in the...

Main Drain, Vacuum, Vac Plate and Skimmer

I assumed everyone would want pictures so I went out and took these. I think I figured out the main drain issue but I don't know where I should set the valve. The valve appeared to be closed so I opened it about half way. Second question is what is the Jandy Valve for? It is labeled Spa...

Main Drain, Vacuum, Vac Plate and Skimmer

Confused how all of this works. I bought a vacuum and hose a few weeks ago and thought I knew what I was doing but after a little reading it appears I don't. I have been putting the hose in the suction side of the skimmer which I noticed doesn't fit all that great. I do not have a vac plate...

    Manual Vacuum Advice

I am sure I am probably over thinking this. My polaris is doing a decent job keeping the pool clean but there seems to be some sand, dirt, grit, etc... it just can't get. So I want to get a manual vacuum to hook into my skimmers to clean everything the bot can't get to. So what do you...

    WOW!! DISGUSTING!!

Thanks Jason. Depending on how long it takes the pressure to rise I may do this. If it holds me off for 3 -4 mos I may just buy new filters and start over. I want to replace a couple parts on the filter anyway so I may be spending a couple hundred anyway. Saving on filters could help.

    Best place to buy parts?

Did my first cleaning today on the filter and there are a few filter parts including new filters I want to order. What is the best place online to order? I only assume I can find cheaper prices online. Was quoted 73.99 for each filter at the local pool store. Need an o rings for the air...
