I agree to just fill with concrete. Take a piece of the cut out section with the color and head to home depot and they'll match it. After the concrete starts to set depress with the edge of the trowel to continue the lines on the surrounding deck. It will blend much better that way.

This is probably a no brainer and feel kinda silly for saying; but make sure paper and plastic all around. It takes one broken glass to cause a major nightmare. Although I do allow beer bottles with thick cozies.

I would agree with the gas option. I'm in Wisconsin and usually go late April to October. Those early and late months it's fairly common to have the pool warmer then the air but I have no problems maintaining temperature.

Huh, how about that. Yes the valve is vibrating. If I squeeze it the sound is kind of muffled. Internal connections? Maybe the ceramic on the pilot has a break after it heats up? Heck if I know.

I had the same problems when I bought my home 20 years ago; concrete deck and so so coping. The deck I actually cut out bad sections, added gravel, and refilled with concrete and brushed to match the texture. Went much better then expected. Believe it or not I used an old black and decker...

I thought that might be an issue, so I pulled it off before I fired it up. Perhaps that's why it went 20 minutes? Maybe I'll do it again but spray contact cleaner in the sleeve (let it totally dry). Would a safe test be to jump it when running and see if the spark stops?

And now I really am baffled. Went ahead and fired up today. Ran great, full power for about 20 minutes; then the spark kicked in.

Just a thought: Vinegar might be a suitable alternative. It would also work on calcium and salt. At least soften it where it's much easier to remove.

It does. The initial spark stops after lighting, but when the valve goes full the spark kicks back on; and no error code.

Have a Raypak heater giving me trouble; started last year. The heater will spark, pilot ignites fine; burners light but it seems when it steps up it sparks again and stays on. There is no error code, just says it's heating, but it's very loud. It it continues to burn normally. It's also not...
