    Replacing pool in Seattle

I generally feel the same way about reviews, but when the risk is $15k-$20k, even a few people losing that seems too extreme of a risk to take for me. I just want to do everything I can to lower that risk before I take the leap. I appreciate all of the responses so far!

    Replacing pool in Seattle

I'm looking to buy a 20-25k gallon in-ground steel or polymer wall vinyl-lined pool. I've looked at several companies including royalswimmingpools, nationalpoolwholesalers, and poolwarehouse. I'm willing to look at others if anyone has any recommendations.

I agree, and I also hope someone can recommend a company that will stand by what they sell.

20k gallons. That's fine if that's the going rate, but I still can't afford it. Anyway, your point about the delivery drivers is kind of the reason I'm paranoid to order. So many people eating $10k+ purchases because they sign for something before inspecting, but they can't hold the delivery...

    Replacing pool in Seattle

Hello All, I have an old fiberglass 20k gallon pool that developed a crack in the shell. It has other problems as well that make this not worth trying to repair. I have all of my infrastructure in place already from the existing pool, and simply want to replace everything outside the pool...

Advice on new Gas Heater Pentair, Hayward, Other?

I've already got a chimney installed per code on my old unit. I'm just wondering if I need to do anything special to account for the 'flame roll-out' fuse issue you mentioned.

Advice on new Gas Heater Pentair, Hayward, Other?

Thank you for the information. With the Raypak, installed in a pool shed, I assume I need the 'indoor stack' vent kit? It looks like the outdoor is just painted to protect it from the weather. If I get that kit, then run it into another few feet of ducting into a chimney, will I be OK with...

Advice on new Gas Heater Pentair, Hayward, Other?

Just found the 266A for $1530, so maybe those Low-Nox do cost more... Still searching.

Advice on new Gas Heater Pentair, Hayward, Other?

I've settled on the 266k model as it fits my space better. I haven't exhausted my searching yet, but I found the Low-Nox for $1725 vs. $1809 for the regular. I am still going to try to find a lower price. As far as my plumbing goes, there is no modern heater that fits it, and I'm going to...

    Advice on SWG Location

So I would bend that plumbing up right after it comes out of the heater, and go up to 6" above the highest point in your plumbing and put the salt cell there. I'm not sure if 6" is standard, so check your manual, but my SWG installation said to put it 6" above highest plumbing. Then just route...

Advice on new Gas Heater Pentair, Hayward, Other?

Either way, it should be downstream of the heater. The check valve is cheap and won't hurt anything.

Advice on new Gas Heater Pentair, Hayward, Other?

I guess what I'm really asking is why would anyone NOT get the low nox? They appear to be smaller, cheaper, and have the same output in addition to less gas emissions. Are they less reliable? More points of failure?

    Advice on SWG Location

I'm not a TFP expert or anything, but you need to mount that SWG after the heater, with a check valve between the heater and SWG. You don't want the highly chlorinated water going back into your heater. Additionally, it's hard to say without seeing your setup, but you should be able to get it...

Advice on new Gas Heater Pentair, Hayward, Other?

Question about the Raypak heaters: Is there a performance difference in the Lo-Nox (like 267A) vs. the regular (like 266A) models? The Lo-Nox appear to be 6" shorter in height, and of course emit less harmful gas, but I'm wondering if they take a hit in actual heating performance. Does anyone...

Advice on new Gas Heater Pentair, Hayward, Other?

I appreciate the responses, but I really want to get some feedback from owners of these particular (or similar) heaters about the actual quality of the heaters. I didn't mean to steer this toward a debate about SWGs. I already own an SWG and I'm not trying to imply that it is going to cause...

Advice on new Gas Heater Pentair, Hayward, Other?

Don't saltwater pools generally have high PH? Whether or not the horror stories are true, I'd still prefer the cupro-nickel. Having a metal that is more resistant to corrosion by salt water seems like a good choice for a salt water pool.

Advice on new Gas Heater Pentair, Hayward, Other?

Hello all, I purchased a house with an old pool and a lot of old equipment. I've lived here nearly 2 years and the old pool heater has finally bit the dust. I'm hoping to find something reliable to replace it with, but it seems that no matter how long I search, all of the units I've found get...

    20 year old heater deconstructed

rdeputy - what did you replace your heater with? I have what appears to be the same 20 year old heater you had, and it is also disintegrating. So many bad reviews on current heaters and I'm struggling to find a replacement that will hopefully last another 20 years, but at least get me close to 10.

    SWG Selection and Installation

I actually ended up getting an SJ-55 which, from ebay, cost me about the same as the SJ-40 would have cost elsewhere. It is nearly 3x sized for my pool, but that gives me a lot of flexibility and should make the cells last a very long time. The installation was super easy, though I did have to...

    SWG Selection and Installation

Thanks again, good to know about INYO. If I were going to go with CircuPool, I would be choosing between the SJ-40, RJ45, and RJ45+. Being on a budget makes the SJ-40 look very appealing. It appears the main difference going up to the RJ45 is the 'digital screen' rather than just 'digital...

    SWG Selection and Installation

Thank you, that is exactly the information I was looking for. I didn't think the pentair SWGs looked that great either, hence why I was hoping there was no reason I should try to get one to match my controller. That comparison chart is missing several brands I have come across in my searching...

    SWG Selection and Installation

Hello, 'New' pool owner here (about 9 months) preparing to convert to SWG. I've read dozens of existing threads and I'm aware of the recommendation to size at 1.5-3x the pool size, so for my 20k gallon pool, I'm targeting a 40k cell. I have a few questions specific to my own setup that I...

Plumbing Routing Trouble - New Owner

The solar turns on in two situations: 1) When it is supposed to - when it is set to solar only, or solar preferred mode. 2) When the temperature of the pool reaches the desired temperature and no more heating is required, but the schedule on the controller requires that the pump still be...

Plumbing Routing Trouble - New Owner

OK, I finally got my pool shed door open about a week ago, then I spent the past week opening my pool, balancing the chemistry, and getting the gear up and running again. I have had the controller set to "heater" (gas only) and once again, when it reaches the desired temp, the actuator for the...
