Newb Looking for Basic Guidance on Smart Controller Options

Lurking. New VS pump, new salt cell (replacing Liquidator/Liquid Dispenser), freeze protection, maybe a few valve actuators. K.I.S.S.

Do I Really Need Full Automation?

I currently have a fairly simple setup: 15,000 gallon IGP, 1.5" piping, SuperPump with 3rd party VS motor with integrated controller (and poor freeze protection), sand filter with Zeolite media, Hasa Liquid Dispenser, heat pump. The heat pump cycles on/off with its flow switch and temp sensor...

Complete Pool & Spa Equipment Installation Tutorial

LOTS of good "real world" information for anybody considering doing their own system (re)design or working with a contractor to optimize a system. The video is almost seven (!) hours long, but is broken into sections. The vendors used are "sponsors", but the design information is vendor-agnostic.

Using A Welder's Blanket For (Deep) Freeze Protection

Very impressive. As noted by one commentator, he is very lucky he didn't end up with a PVC funeral pyre. Thanks for doing the archeology. I think I should be OK. I'm using a little 1500 watt ceramic heater with a fan and thermostat. The only things close to the heater are the sand (Zeolite)...

Using A Welder's Blanket For (Deep) Freeze Protection

I'd be grateful if you can find it. I'm always willing to learn from other folk's experiences.

Using A Welder's Blanket For (Deep) Freeze Protection

Based on the information here in TFP, I tend to be fairly sanguine about cold weather. https://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/the-physics-of-freezing-and-freeze-protection.86914/ Mostly I just extend run times and for overnight temps down to the lower 20's I use a moving blanket and a...

New EVO 614i Robot Pool Cleaner Review

For anybody wondering if the 604 / 614iQ can pick up leaves. Picks up leaves much better than my Dolphin Premier.

New EVO 614i Robot Pool Cleaner Review

Personal note on using the Lift System. When the unit comes up to the surface of the water the treads keep running. All I have to do is lift the unit enough for the treads to get traction on the coping and then it "drives" itself out of the pool and a foot or so onto the deck, where the unit...

New EVO 614i Robot Pool Cleaner Review

If you haven't done so, look a bit earlier in this thread. Leslie's may..............or may not..............service the EVO's.

New EVO 614i Robot Pool Cleaner Review

Did anybody get any official response from Aqua Products or Fluidra about where and how to get service? It's not acceptable that @djpool21 had to convince the local Leslie's store that they really do repair these units and that EVO owners might have to do this on a store-by-store basis, with no...

New EVO 614i Robot Pool Cleaner Review

It was recently noted in this thread that Marina can no longer swap baskets at the point of initial sale. They got their wrist slapped by Aqua Products.

New EVO 614i Robot Pool Cleaner Review

I had a second Firmware Update Failure, with no way to know if my firmware was up to date or not. I didn't bother with tech support and contacted Selina Dudley directly. I received an acknowledgement on the weekend and a response the next business day, so no complaints about (management)...

New EVO 614i Robot Pool Cleaner Review

When I couldn't get any tech support, Marina Pools finally put me in contact with: Selina Dudley Sr. National Accounts Manager [email protected] Be sure to mention TFP and this thread. They've gotten a lot of sales from here.............and could lose a lot of sales if it turns out they...

Depending on how the abandoned pressure pipe is run, it could be used for an autofill or autofill/autodrain.

FYI - Surprising Sources Of Metal In Pool Water Identified And Fixed

Update: I was given bad advice. DO NOT put a new coat of sealer on every year. The sealer gets too thick, traps moisture underneath and you end up with white splotches called "bloom."

It took several weeks and several tries, but Margaret at Marina was finally able to get me a partial response.

New EVO 614i Robot Pool Cleaner Review

Something to be aware of is that Customer Support at Fluidra and Aqua Products totally sucks. Or, to be more precise, is non-existent. When configuring the iAquaLink software the app glitched in the middle of a firmware update for the robot. I sent an inquiry about how to restart the update...

New EVO 614i Robot Pool Cleaner Review

I've been fiddling with some flotation to see if I could get the 614iq to sit at an angle when at the water line, like the Dolphin Premier does, and as a result scuff along sideways for 2-3 feet per pass. Apparently the gyro is fighting me. If the tilt goes beyond a certain point the brush on...

New EVO 614i Robot Pool Cleaner Review

The robot pretty much goes straight up the wall, which means it is only cleaning an equivalently small portion of the wall as it does of the water line. I wonder if there is any reason to run the Floor/Wall mode.

New EVO 614i Robot Pool Cleaner Review

My report on the first couple of runs of my new 614iq. The bottom of the pool was covered in thousands of little seed somethings about the size of a grain of rice, which would clearly show where the robot did and did not go. I used the leaf rake to remove most leaves before the first run, but...

Simple DIY Skimmer Guard To Keep Leaves, Seed Pods & Other Floating Debris Out Of Skimmers

Good suggestion. Blockage hasn't been a problem with our trees & leaves, but it might be for other kinds of leaves. The slots along the sides of the colander are structural, but later today I'll mod the design and post to show a row of 1/2" holes along the bottom.

Turn off skimmer or install a skimmer guard to help with nightmare leaves

I just posted another design for a DIY skimmer guard. I think it should be easy to attach and detach. https://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/simple-diy-skimmer-guard-to-keep-leaves-seed-pods-other-floating-debris-out-of-skimmers.289086/ And speaking of nightmare leaves............at least...

Simple DIY Skimmer Guard To Keep Leaves, Seed Pods & Other Floating Debris Out Of Skimmers

We don't close our pool, so I use these in Fall and Spring. In addition to being much less expensive than the commercially available skimmer guard, the mesh is much finer and keeps small seed pods, catkins, etc. out of the skimmers. Materials List (per skimmer): Collapsible (or Expandable)...
