Figured out what is wrong with the pool...

LOL...no doubt. Luckily it only required 1 trip to the store in advance to get the PVC items.

Figured out what is wrong with the pool...

I was able to get the RJ60+ installed last night. While they say 45-60 minutes, I was probably closer to 2 hours just because I had to make several trips back and forth to the garage trying to get additional things I hadn't thought about needing. I also had a delay because I couldn't figure...

    Replace fiberglass diving board

Our diving board is showing signs of wear. It has a crack in it and we don't let anyone use it anymore. I think everything else is fine, just need to unbolt it and install a new one. The problem is, I am not sure where to get a new board. Does anyone have any recommendations for just the...

    CircuPool RJ60 installation questions

I have one on order but while I am thinking through things, I want to make sure I am correctly accounting for how things currently run. I have an electronic timer that sits between the electrical panel and all of the pool equipment. Basically, it allows my system to run every 30 minutes for 30...

Figured out what is wrong with the pool...

Thanks everyone. I think I am leaning towards this one as it has a 7 year warranty. CircuPool RJ-45 PLUS Saltwater Chlorinator | Discount Salt Pool One more question I have is I can "upgrade" to the RJ60 for $10 more. I am at less than 40k gallons. Is it worth the $10 for the larger system?

Figured out what is wrong with the pool...

I wouldn't have thought lightning...would have had other problems (house has been struck before). My problem is that every time I get the algae killed, the water is always very cloudy. In the past I have done the DE over sand filter treatment, backwashed, rinsed and repeated. Powerflocing for...

Figured out what is wrong with the pool...

I have been struggling most of the year. I think I finally have things figured out, but I still need to powerfloc and backwash. I went over to the filter to check on if it needed to be backwashed. I looked at the SWG and noticed I didn't see a cloud coming off of the plates like I normally...

    Losing stabilizer somehow...

I tested with the TF-100 and it was not registering anything. I added 10 pounds of stabilizer and it was up to maybe 40 or so. I think I need to add more stabilizer. But my question is, how is it possible for CYA to leave through evaporation?

    Losing stabilizer somehow...

It is an automated test. Pretty hard for them to screw up putting sample water into the little disk to get a reading. But I will test it as well.

    Losing stabilizer somehow...

I would agree, they are using a computer though. I will manually check as well, but expect it to be close to theirs.

    Losing stabilizer somehow...

I have been struggling this year with algae, about every other week it seems. At the beginning of June I took a sample in and CYA was like 3. I added some stabilizer and a week later it was 10. I added more and on June 21st it was 41. On June 28th it was back to 11, and I just had them test...

    Pump tripping breaker

I found some pictures online and it led me to believe I might reassembled it incorrectly. I went to take it apart and I noticed one of the tensioner springs had come off. I reassembled everything and it is running like a champ. Does anyone know how long the pumps are supposed to last and what...

Ok…so assuming that means it is done for? Or is there something I can do to fix it?

    Pump tripping breaker

Started pump, just whirred...means shaft is rusted. Disassembled, broke free, put back together. Now when I start it the breaker trips. Any thoughts?

    "Stained" Pool?

Just wanted to provide an update. It was just fine particles suspended in the water. I did a power floc treatment and it is almost all gone. I was always sure it wasn't an active bloom...for me at least active blooms are true green. Whenever I get it like this it means it is dead.

    "Stained" Pool?

Ok. I had to track it down...sorry: 2 bottles of SaltScapes Saltwater Pool Care - Algae Remover on the 2nd. Then on the 5th, 1 bottle of BioGuard Algae All 60. It doesn't seem green, more of a blue green which is generally what it looks like after I have killed the algae. pH: 7.2...

    "Stained" Pool?

So we went on vacation and came back to a green pool. I opted for a run to the store to try and get a handle on it rather than slam. They gave me two bottles of algaecide (trying to track down what it was). I am pretty sure that the algae is dead, however, the pool looks like this. Did the...

    Pump went up in flames

I had turned the pump off a few weeks ago in preparation for closing the pool. I didn't get a chance to do it before I went out of town for a work trip. I asked my wife to turn it back on to backwash as we have had almost 8 inches of rain in the last 2 days. She said it started up and was...

    Correcting my levels

Chart has: with SWG FC 3-5 (See chart) pH 7.2-7.8 TA 60-80 CH 0-300 (Don't add) CYA 70-80 Currently my pH is 8.2+ target 7.5 TA is 120 target 70 Using PoolMath it appears I need to add some acid to get down my pH which will in turn lower my TA? I am assuming it is over 8.2.

Heck yeah! Everyone should be a supporter. I became gold last year. 2 days before we were leaving town for vacation a month ago it started going green on me. I did a fast slam and was hoping it would be ok when we got back. When we got back my wife came in and said "Have you seen the...

    Pool School vs SWG manual

Pool School - Chlorine / CYA Chart This chart shows that CYA should be between 60-80 and FC 3-6 depending on level. However, I was reading my SWG manual and it says CYA 30-50 with a FC of 1-3. Which is correct? I would assume the SWG manual, but I have been running the last year as TFP laid out.

Going to try "solar" heating this year...

Yeah...it is probably 15-20' up. It would be two stories plus the top story is a vaulted ceiling. Will have to rethink things for next year.
